“Ugh... oh no...” Chiharu sighed. She was having some lunch with Yuto and other co-workers when she spotted a familiar figure walk into the restaurant. Yuto noticed and asked, “Something wrong?” She sneered, “Yea... Him.”
“Well, looks like all the guys are hanging out...” they heard as someone approached. He smirked at Chiharu, “You're the odd one out, Chiharu. The only ugly one here...”
“Shut the hell up, Yamada and get outta here. They don't allow rodents in restaurants.” she glared. He gave her a look, “So why did they let you in?” Tension grew between the two as Yuto sighed, “Alright, come on you two. Let's not start any trouble here ok?” Chiharu glared, “Fine... the sooner he gets outta my sight the better.”
“Heh, my words exactly...” he smirked as he looked at her glass of water. It fell over, spilling all over her.
“Ah!” she jumped up, but her pants were completely soaked with water. She glared, “Yamada Ryosuke! This is all your fault!” Yuto stared surprised as Ryosuke answered, “How is it my fault? I'm way over here...”
“I dunno, but only you could pull off something as childish as this!” she said mad. He shrugged, “Don't blame me for things I don't do...” He walked off, sitting at a table with a girl as she growled, “Urgh! He irritates me soooo much! That jerk!” Yuto just stared at the fallen glass. Nothing had even come in contact with it. He then took a glance at Yamada across the restaurant.
“Could it be...” he thought to himself. “Another Greek power of the gods?”
~The other side of World Cuisines~
“Yuya-nii!” Yui groaned as she saw her brother eating again. She scolded, “Just because your my brother doesn't mean you get to eat free lunch every day here!” He smiled, “Aw, come on. I took care of you when you were little, it's the least you can do.”
“I'll make food for you at home!” she laughed. “The more you eat here, the less we have for all the other customers. Now go to work! The bills don't pay themselves you know...”
“Haha, alright. I'll get going.” he said standing up. “I'm working overtime so I won't be home til late.”
“Alright then. Do your best~!” she smiled as he nodded and left.
~Animation Studio~
“Kaori~!” she heard as she drew her sketches. She answered, “Hey, Shirika. What's up?” She smiled, “We're almost done with all the voice recordings!”
“Awesome.” she smiled to her. “You sure are working hard out there.” She nodded, “I'm just so excited to see how this film will work out~!” Kaori nodded, “I'm sure we all are.” Shirika then added, “Oh, yea. My friend's having a party at World Cuisines for thanksgiving. Wanna come?”
“Haha, if they don't mind having a lot of extra people.” she laughed. “You know if I go... Kei and Rini will go. Then of course, Kota and Ryutaro will come too with Rini.”
“That's fine.” she smiled. “He won't mind.” A smile came on Kaori's face as she teased, “Oh~ It's a boy? Who is he? Someone special?”
“Haha, shut up. He's a close friend.”
“Uh-huh. Sure...” she laughed at Shirika. “So this 'close friend'? Who is he? Is he cute? Tell me!” She giggled, “Yea, you can say that--” Kaori's phone rang, “Hello? Oh, Yuki! I'm sorry. I'm running a little late. Yea I'll be there in 20 minutes. Bye.” She hung up and gathered her stuff, “Sorry, Shirika. I gotta get going.”
“It's okay.” she smiled. “We'll talk later.”
“Alright. See you soon. Good luck with the finishing your recordings!” she smiled running off.
~Satomi's office~
“Haha, no way?! Really?!” Satomi laughed as she and Mai had lunch together in her office. “You're kidding right?” She smiled, “No, seriously! He--” A knock came at the door as Satomi answered, “Come in.” The secretary entered, with someone following behind. “Sugimoto-san, you have a client.” She then noticed, “Oh, Kota... please come in.”
“I'm sorry, am I interrupting?” he wondered.
“It's fine. I need to get back to work soon anyways.” Mai stated. “I'll see you later, Satomi. Oh! Almost forgot. You wanted me to remind you to water your flower.” She pointed to the small stem growing in the pot at her desk. Satomi nodded, “Thanks. I'll do that after this..” Mai then left as she waved her off. Satomi then sat at the table with Kota and asked, “So, how's your hallucinations been?”
“Still the same.” he sighed worried. “They've been occurring more frequently. I'm not too sure why... I've been off work for the week like you asked and its only getting worse.” She thought, “Ok... maybe now, you're missing your job too much. You need to find a balance so you aren't overworking yourself, and you're still able to do what you love.”
“I guess so... but what if this doesn't stop?” he wondered. “My brother... he's kinda getting worried... he's noticed I've been acting strange lately. I don't want him to think i”m crazy or anything.”
“Don't worry. We'll figure this out ok?” she stated in a calming voice. “There is definitely an explanation for this. We just need to find out what it is. I'm pretty sure its has a lot to do with the work you do. Let's just monitor how much time you spend doing your work and taking breaks. We already know that overworking and not working at all is making these hallucinations occur. The right balance might stop them.”
“Alright. I'll give it a try...” he sighed.
“You sound unconvinced.” she wondered.
“I'm not. I don't think this is a hallucination anymore. It's just happening too often to be one...” he told her. “I still can't control these powers... but... I know that I have them...”
“... well, I don't know a logical explanation to obtaining powers...” she thought. “If you can show me, somehow, that your powers exist. We'll talk from there.” He nodded and stood up to leave. He said, “Thanks again, Satomi.”
“Anytime, Kota. Be sure to talk to me if anything else comes up.” she told him. She cleaned up her papers the table as Kota passed her desk, staring at the potted flower. He then left the building and Satomi placed her notes on her desk.
“Oh, now the flower--” she stared at it surprised to see a full grown rose. “What the... when did that happen?”
~The Animal Shelter~
“Crap... not again.” Hakufu groaned as she stopped. She had just gotten off work and was about to head home when she had a strange feeling. She felt hot inside. She felt her forehead, but her temperature seemed normal. She rushed into a store and headed straight for the restroom. She tried to wash her face, but the heat inside her body just got hotter. She grasped herself in her arms, “What the hell is happening to me?!” She tried to calm down, hoping that she would cool down. But it was no luck. She dialed a number as she said, “Hi..I need to see a doctor right away... I feel like my entire body is on fire...” As she talked she hurried over to the hospital.
~Back at World Cuisines~
“There you are!” Yuki smiled happily as Kaori approached her at World Cuisines. “Where's Kei?”
“He's working overtime... so he won't be able to make it.” she stated. “But now, its a girl's day out~!” Yuki nodded and thought, “What does Kei do? Besides working at the shelter?” She answered, “He's an architect. I think he's working on a blueprint for a new building right now.”
“Wow, really?! How cool!” she said amazed. “What company does he work for? He's probably the best one there. He was always the top student back in high school.”
“He definitely is...” she laughed. “That over-achiever... He works at Modern Establishment. It's a few block down from my studio. Why the sudden interest in him? Got a crush?”
“Haha, no way. It's just been a while I want to know how my friends are making a living.” she stated as they took their seats, browsing through the menu. Behind her menu, Yuki quickly sent a text message and said, “Hey, has... have you noticed anything strange going on with Kei?”
“Strange? He's already a strange guy...” she teased. “What do you mean?”
“I dunno... has he been like, different?” she wondered as Kaori thought, “Well... he's been such a worrier lately. Like an overprotective father, you know what I mean? Always scolding me for random things...”
“That's it?”
“Yea, did you expect something more?” she wondered. Yuki shook her head, “No... I was just curious.”
“You're sure being very curious about Kei... why the sudden interest?” Kaori said. She answered, “Seriously don't worry about it—”
“Yuki?” they heard as a guy came over to their table.
“Yuto, what are you doing here?” she said surprised. He smiled, “Same thing as you, having lunch.” She smiled, “Haha, stupid question... oh! Kaori this is my friend Yuto. Yuto, this Kaori.”
“Hey.” she smiled as he did in return, “Do you mind if I steal Yuki away for a sec?”
“Hmm, I guess I don't mind...” she said as Yuki said, “Be back soon.” They took walked to a quiet corner as she asked, “What's up?”
“See that guy in the corner there?” he said motioning to the Ryosuke guy Chiharu was arguing with earlier. She nodded as he explained, “I think he might have Poseidon's powers.” He began to explain the situation as she answered, “It could've just been a coincidence...”
“There was no shake, no contact on the glass...” he stated.
“Ok, give Keito or Daiki a call when you get the chance. They have the locket right now.” she explained. “We found Artemis' power yesterday and they should be talking to him now.” He nodded, “Alright, I will.”
“Ok, I'll see you later then.” she waved off and went back to her table.
“So, have fun with your boyfriend?” Kaori teased as she gave her a look, “He is not my boyfriend. I barely met the guy!”
“Oh~ Really? I guess you were right. You're not into Kei cuz of him.” she giggled. “What were you two talking about in the corner... haha!”
“Shut up~!” Yuki laughed.
~Elsewhere~
“Modern Establishment. Come on Daiki. We've gotta find that Kei guy.” Keito said as he got Yuki's message. Daiki nodded as he drove them to the building. He walked up to the secretary, “Hi. Um, where looking for Inoo Kei. Is he available right now?”
“He sure is.” they heard on the side. Kei was walking by with his bags in his hand. He smiled, “You guys sure have good timing. I just got off work. What can I help you with?”
“Do you mind if we talk to you in private? It's rather important.” Keito asked. He thought, “How long do you suppose it will take? I have another job I need to do.” Daiki said, “We'll try to make it quick. Kei then said, “We can talk in my office.” He lead them there as let them sit on his couch. He brought them drinks as he asked, “So what's this all about?”
“Your powers.” Daiki said straight forward. Kei scoffed, “Powers? What are you talking about?” Keito began to explain the locket and their search for the powers that emerged from it as Kei grew surprised.
“The locket lead us to you, showing us the symbol of Artemis.” Keito finished. Kei lit up, “Artemis... is the Goddess of the moon, chastity, hunting... and Wildlife!” Daiki nodded, “So you know what we're talking about...” He remained silent as Keito told him, “You don't need to trust us right away. We just want to do extra research on this. Don't you want to know more? Why you obtain this power out of all people? We already found another person like you. With powers.”
“That would be nice to know...” he stated. “I'll think this over... I really need to get going though.” Daiki nodded, “That's fine... here's our number.” he handed him their business card and stated, “If you can't reach us there, we're friends of Yuki. You can ask her to pass on the message. She's helping us with this too.”
“Yuki knows about this too?” he said shocked as they nodded. “That's certainly a surprise... anyways, I need to head out.” Kei lead them out and stated, “I'll be sure to give you a call soon.” As he waved them off he thought, “This might be the explanation we've been looking for...”
“That went well.” Keito sighed as they headed back to their car. Daiki smiled, “2 down, 6 to go! Kei was way more understanding than Yuto don't you think?”
“Yea, hopefully the others won't be difficult--” his phone rang as he answered, “Hello?”
“Keito, it's Yuto.” he heard. “I think... I might have found another power...”
