Anime Cipher Chapter 13: Looking for the Last Sight Pt 1.

Rating: M (due to language only)

Summary: 4 different stories all merge into one great adventure. Kiara Davis, a high school senior has no love greater than anime. But how will she react when some of her favorite anime characters are actually appearing in front of her own eyes? And not only that, but she gets pulled into their world as well! Could it be because of her own private code she created out of pure boredom? What is all this leading to?

“Who’s Rayna?” Hakufu wondered as she responded, “She’s my best friend. I know I mentioned her before. The first person I ever let come to my treehouse. It was the semester before you came to the school when she went missing. Everyone didn’t even know she existed. There were days I thought I just made her up, but I still had photos of us together and everything, but still, no one knew who she was. I think it’s because she covered up her trail, hiding from the Pipers.”

“Well if she’s covering her trail, how are we suppose to find her?” Mai pointed as she shrugged, “I’ve been trying to figure that out ever since she went missing almost seven months ago. But I actually might know who might be able to help.”

“Who?”

“Daiki. My mentor.” she smiled. “He’s currently searching for her as we speak.” She looked at Hakufu, “Can you keep tabs here while I check in at home?”

“You probably do need to go to school more than I do.” she sighed as Kia gave her a look, “Hey! Hakufu!” She gave a soft smile, “It was a joke.”

“Heh, just keep a lookout on what’s happening with the Pipers. And let me know how Yuto’s doing too.” she stated. “I’ll try to be back within a few hours.”

“That’ll be days here Kia.” she stated. “Remember the time works differently.”

“Alright, give me two hours max. I won’t take any longer.” she explained. Hakufu nodded as she soon said, “Teleport. Daiki’s place!” And she was gone.

“Are you kidding me?!” Kia growled as she banged on his door. “Why are you always gone when I need you!” She focused on one of the codes on her arm, “Search! Daiki Arioka!” The portal soon appeared in front of her showing Daiki walking around town, stealthy.

“Te-“ Before she could say anything, she heard, “Kia!”

“O-Oburi, hey!” she said surprised.

“What happened earlier?” she pouted. “Hakufu said you ran off somewhere and so we split up to look for you!” Kia quickly thought, “Sorry… I wasn’t feeling so great…”

“Kia! Come on, what’s really going on?!” Oburi said, a bit angry. “I’m not an idiot. You and Hakufu are always disappearing and leaving me out. If you girls don’t like me being around anymore than just tell it to me straight!”

“Oburi it isn’t like that.” she tried to say as Oburi groaned, “Then tell me the truth! What’s going on?!”

“…” she thought as Oburi scoffed, “I see…” She turned to go as she soon heard her softly say, “Rayna…”

“What?” Oburi wondered.

“… Do you remember a few days ago? When you brought up Daiki and I being best friends and I got quiet?” she explained as Oburi nodded. “Well, he isn’t. Rayna is and always will be my best friend. The reason why I got so quiet is because of that. No matter how close Daiki and I get, Rayna has always been the one who knew me, who I told practically everything to. And no one can replace her.”

“… What does she have to do with this?”

“Last semester, she went missing. No one even remembers her and today. I thought I saw her.” she said seriously. “That’s why I ran off. I tried to chase after her, but I lost her… Daiki… he’s the only one besides me who remembers her, even just vaguely and I was hoping maybe he saw her today too.”

“…Kia I’m so sorry.” Oburi said hugging her tightly. “I had no idea.”

“I know. It’s been tough, but it’ll be alright.” she sighed. “If I saw her today, then at least I know she’s alright.” Oburi nodded, “Exactly. So did you talk to Daiki already?”

“No, he wasn’t home.” she answered.

“Well, how about I help you find him?” she beamed. Kia nodded, “That’d be great. I’ll head that way then.” She nodded, “I’ll call you if I find him.” She nodded and rushed off as Kia made her portal appear again. She watched as Daiki quietly continued to walk through town.

“What the hell are you-“ she froze as she saw him light up as he rushed off after someone. She flinched as she said, “Teleport! Daiki!” She focused on where he was and soon appeared there. She quickly rushed in his direction, “Speed!” She sped faster, passing him, getting closer to the person he was chasing.

“Rayna?!” she said managing to grasp her shoulder.

“K-Kia?!” she said in surprise as Kia hugged her tightly, “You’re actually here-“ She quickly pulled, “Now isn’t the time! Run!”

“Wha-“ she began as Rayna took off again, shouting, “Portal!” She jumped through a portal as she called after, “Rayna!”

“Kia, what the hell was that?!” Daiki panted as he approached. He put his hand on his knees, trying to catch his breath as he asked, “Why are you using your abilities so out in the open like that?!”

“How could you let her outrun you like that?!” she scolded. “Come on Daiki! That’s just pathetic! What if you lost her again?!”

“Well, you just lost her too didn’t you?!” he responded as she fought back, “I caught up to her and then she left alright… I actually… I touched her. She was actually here.”

“So… she’s really here…” he thought.

“Daiki… she has to be the last sight.” she explained as he gave her a look. “You still have yet to explain all this. Just how long have you been going to the anime world without me?”

“A lot, but only because the Browsers pulled me in for help. I didn’t have time to tell you.” she answered beginning to fill him in. He gave her a look, “All that happened without me knowing?! Why the hell didn’t you tell me sooner?!”

“I’m sorry, we were caught up in some crazy stuff, I didn’t think about it.”

“So, the Sights… You, Rayna, Hakufu, and…” he tried to review as she said, “Yuto.”

“I can’t believe you’ve all been found.” he sighed. “This isn’t good.”

“What? Why? Isn’t it a good thing that we know? Now we can complete the team.” she stated as he nodded, “Yeah, that’s good, but its also bad news. Because you are now all known, the barriers can be broken.”

“Barriers?” she wondered as he nodded, “Yeah, I’m sure the Browsers already filled you in about the scroll.”

“You knew about the scroll?! So it is real like, this all-powerful scroll?!” she said surprised as he nodded. “And you didn’t think to mention it to me before?”

“I told you, the more you know, the more danger you’re in.” he explained as she replied, “I’m already in a lot of danger, knowledge might help me. Daiki, please. Everything you know, please tell me.”

“Okay, I’m sorry. I won’t hide anything from you anymore.” he said sincerely. “The barriers are used to protect the scroll. And only the Sights can unlock them. But without all the Sights being revealed to either Piper or Browser, the barriers are practically impossible to find.”

“Practically?” she wondered. “Are you implying that it can be found?”

“It has been.” he said taking her by surprise. “The first barrier was opened by the very first Sight, right before he died.” He began to explain, “I’m not sure how you unlock it, but whoever formed the Pipers managed to get him to unlock the very first one.”

“Whoever formed the Pipers? You mean Akira?” she wondered as he shook his head. “No. Whoever’s leading has been very well hidden. I’ve only seen the dark hood and black trench coat.” Kia thought back to the when she dreamt about the Pipers getting scolded and the guy seeing her.

“Daiki, I think I know him…”

“You do?!” he said surprised. “Well, who is it?!”

“I don’t know… but I saw him once, but he was completely covered. I couldn’t see his face.” she stated. “He sounded so familiar… I just can’t put my finger on it.”

“Kia, that’s dangerous! Whoever this guy is could’ve killed you!”

“Daiki, it happened in my dream. I’ve had dreams about being in the anime world so many times, but he was the only one to notice me there.” she said as he thought. “I know he’s powerful if he could do that… Could he have killed me then?”

“No, he couldn’t.” he stated. “Kia, when you sleep, you’re not using your abilities. It’s just your subconscious being pulled into anime world, pretty much what happens when you actually go, just without your body.”

“Like astral projection?”

“Kind of. Remember how I said you’re connected to the anime world. That’s your connection. It’s just to see what goes on, but you’re not really there.” he explained. “So he couldn’t have hurt you and you couldn’t have hurt him. But yea, the fact that he was able to sense you there, makes him a very strong threat. What was happening when you were with him?”

“He was just scolding the Pipers about failin-“ She thought. Daiki wondered, “What?”

“Something he said… he told them, ‘Now I have to inform her.’ Daiki, I don’t think he’s the one leading.” she answered.

“And if he’s powerful enough to sense a Sight nearby, then I don’t even want to think about how strong his boss is.” he sighed. “We need to get Rayna to stop running from us. We’ll need her on the team if we want to have a chance against the Pipers.”

“I need to rendezvous with Hakufu in a bit but can I leave Rayna to you?” she wondered as he nodded. “Leave it to me, Kia.”

“…. You know I’ve never actually seen you in a battle before Daiki.” she pointed out. He chuckled, “Good. I’m not that great of a fighter. I’m honestly more defensive.”

“We could actually use that.” she sighed. “Things have been getting tough out there.”

“With your knowledge on anime. I think you got the best chance.” he smiled. “I’ll keep you updated, but I do want to drop by to meet the rest of the team.”

“Yeah, just let me know.” she smiled. “I’ll see you later then.” He nodded as she said, “Teleport! Guardian’s castle!”

“…” Kyoumi sat quietly to herself in the castle, staring out at the clouds passing by as she heard. “What’s wrong?” She looked to see her brother giving her a look as she pouted, “Why didn’t you tell me about Suzaku sooner?”

“I didn’t think you needed to know-“

“I’ve been your sister for almost two years now!” she scolded. “Did you just take me in to replace your brother?!”

“…Is that what you really think?” he asked seriously, taking her back. She sighed, “You’re suppose to be my brother… but I feel like I don’t know you at all. You just… never open up to me.”

“Don’t take it personally. I don’t open up to anyone.” he shrugged as she gave him a look, “That’s not the point!” He pointed down the hall, “I’m going to train with Ryuu. Wanna come?”

“Keito.” she said. “Come on.”

“Right, you don’t like seeing blood.” he said turning away as she scolded, “That’s besides the point! And if there’s gonna be blood you two aren’t training! That’s a full on bloody battle!”

“That’s the only way to improve.” he said, heading off. She sighed, “Have you always been like this…”

“I highly doubt it.” she heard behind her, soon seeing Karina watching Keito leave. “People aren’t always born the way they are. I believe they are affected to be the way they are. Thus your ‘brother’ was led to be this way.”

“Really? What do you think made him like this?” she wondered. Karina answered, “What happened to his brother is definitely a factor. I believe it’s the main reason why he’s so distant from everyone. And the fact that he’s always training and looking for a fight, its obvious he has something he wants to get rid of, like guilt or regret or something like that within him. He’s taking out all his emotions and turning it into rage against the Pipers.”

“Why would he feel guilt or regret?” she wondered.

“I don’t have all the details, so I wouldn’t know.” Karina answered. “But seeing how defensive he got about his brother as well as you, it could be about family. Has he ever spoken about them?”

“… All he has ever said about that was that they were dead. And never spoke about them again.” she explained.

“… Definitely family then.” she said. “Despite what he said, about opening up. it’s apparent how he feels about his family. He may act like he doesn’t care…. but in truth, he’s probably pushing you away because you’re his only weakness.” Kyoumi thought to herself as they soon heard, “Karina.” Kota stood nearby as she said, “Excuse me.” The two headed off as he whispered, “Is there a reason you’re having heart-to-heart talks with people we might not be able to trust?”

“There’s only one way to find out who the traitor is.” she answered.

“And by getting onto good terms with them is the way?” he wondered.

“Do you just suspect everyone?” she gave him a look as he nodded, “Everyone’s guilty until proven innocent.”

“And me?” she asked. “Why did you chose to tell me about this traitor?”

“Because I knew you’d be able to uncover who it is.” he answered. “And if you were the traitor, you tend to act impulsively so you would’ve already acted.”

“Even so, that isn’t enough evidence to conclude I’m not a suspect.”

“Well, this is your chance to prove it.” he answered. “By finding out who the traitor is.”

“Okay, refresh my memory. Who is for sure not the traitor?” she wondered.

“I believe it to be me, Hikaru, and Prince Kei.” he answered. “We are the ones who have been personally contacted by the Alvador. Those the Alvador can trust.”

“And we can knock off the Sights since they are the Alvador’s chosen saviors.” she thought. “And you said there might be one more? Who the Alvador has spoken to?”

“Yes. One of the Seekers. I believe one of us were chosen from each group to help the Sights unite all the Browsers.” he concluded.

“Then explain Hikaru and Prince Kei.” she told him as he nodded. “Hikaru was a person mentor for Yuto. I believe because he needed the guidance much like Kia needed her mentor. In Hakufu’s case, Kia was there to help her therefore not needing another mentor. But because he was always with Yuto, there was no one leading the other Guardians to unify with the rest of us. Thus, Prince Kei was chosen.”

“Hm.” she thought. “Is there any chance… the Alvador could be mistaken?”

“It’s the Alvador. Why else would we need to be so secretive about what we’re doing?” he wondered. She thought, “It just doesn’t seem right. We’re a team. Isn’t that what you told me. The Sights must bring our groups together as one. How can we do that if we’re constantly doubting each other?”

“That is what is brilliant about this plan.” he answered. “That fact that this traitor got in one of our groups, shows that whoever it is must know that we’re suppose to be united. What better way to destroy something than from the inside? By adding this doubt in between the groups is separating all of us even more.”

“... The Alvador has never been seen before, how can you be sure that who you spoke to was indeed the Alvador?” she wondered.

“... I can’t say for sure.” he thought. “... It’s just… faith.”

“Faith. That’s what you’re going with?” she gave him a look.

“I believe it to be the Alvador. Something about the presence it had made me believe it to be true.” he answered. “Unless there’s another being that can make me feel something like that… I doubt it was an imposter.”

“... Alright, I don’t like it, but if there really is a mole in the group, that places the Sights in extra danger. They’re open targets if they think they can trust everyone here.” she responded.

“We can’t tell them if that’s what you’re saying.” he warned her as she shook her head, “No. We just need to keep them an eye on them. The people we can trust.”

“Hikaru is already taking care of Yuto. I’ll talk to Kei about watching out for Hakufu and Kia.” he stated. She nodded as he asked, “And the mole?”

“Leave that to me.” she said confidently as she headed off.
