A Great Gift

This was my very first JUMP fanfic. I wrote it for Chinen's birthday last year :D Hope you enjoy it~
Pairing: Chinen YuriXOC
Summary: It's been a year since Yuri has seen his girlfriend, and the last time they saw each other... it was the best departure for her. He really wants to see her again, hoping to explain everything to her, but she never answers his calls. Will Yuri ever be able to apologize to her?

The young boy sighed as he stood in front of his window. The rain poured down hard as he dazed off sadly through it. 'It's been a year... only a year... but its feels like eternity...' The sound of heaven's tears pounded against his ceiling as he fell sadly on his bed. He took out his cell phone and looked at his contacts, staring at one name. The one name he's been missing. The name that's behind the lack of his happiness. The name... of the person he wanted to see the most.
He sat up again and pressed the send button, placing his phone next to his ear.
'The number you are calling with has been blocked by this number.'
He groaned, falling back onto his bed. Geez, one year and she's still not talking to me.Placing his arm over his eyes, he thought about what to do.

Heh heh Yuri-kun!” she playfully pounced on him. He smiled happily as he grasped her hand, “So where shall we go today?” She thought, “Oh! Let's get some ice cream!” He laughed at her excitement a bit, “Hai...”
Yuri-kun~!” he heard as he saw his smiling girlfriend appeared by his school. “how was class?” He replied, “Fine. Would've been better if you were with me...” She giggled happily.
Yuri-kun...”
Yuri~!”
Yuri-”

He sat up again, unable to continue sleeping. Oh, how he missed hearing her call his name and the bright smiles she would give him. Since the incident, he hasn't had a good night's rest. He'd always dream about her, followed by the incident. She soon began to vanish from him every night. He sat up and thought as he stared at the name on his phone again. He grabbed his house phone and dialed the number, despite the fact it was 2 am in the morning.
'Sorry I'm not here right now to answer your call. Please leave a message and I'll try to get back to you soon.'
“Kaori...” he began as the voice recording started. “I'm really sorry about what happened. If you please give me a chance to explain, knowing you.... you'll understand what happened. Can we please talk? I know you just came back not too long ago, so... I'll wait for you at the usual place later on today at 6. Ja.” He smiled a little, happy to at least have heard her voice on her phone. 'Please come Ri-chan...'
He walked around town later that day and soon stopped in front of their usual place, a smoothie shop they always hung out in together. He stared at one empty booth, the booth they sat in every time. He pictured all the fun times they had there, but soon, he began recalling the misfortunes that lead to that day...

Yuri-kun...” Kaori called to him sadly as the sat together, having a smoothie. He grasped her hand worried, “Is everything okay? What's wrong?”
... My dad got a promotion...” she explained.
Really?! That's great! Why are you so sad then?” he smiled.
Because he's being transferred to America.” she said as his smile vanished. His head hung, “America...” She nodded, “So our entire family is moving with him... Yuri-kun... Long distance relationships don't usually work out... so-”
Ri-chan.” he interrupted. “Please, let's just try... Our relationship's been the best couple months of my life. I don't want that to change because of this transfer.”
...Neither do I... I really love you Chinen...” she said as she hugged him.
I love you too Kaori...” He hugged her in return as he then asked, “... so... when are you leaving....”
A week from tomorrow...” she said sadly. “Gomen~... a couple days before your birthday too...”
That doesn't give us a lot of time...” She nodded, “I know...” He sighed, “Then well just have to spend as much time as possible with each other...” She nodded, but sadly, the departure date soon came.
Ri-chan, before you go, let's go out for a while...” Chinen called her as she nodded, “Hai... that would be nice, but I need to finish loading up some stuff. I should be done soon.” He told her, “Then I'll meet you at the usual place in an hour.”
Hai. See you soon.”
Yuri-kun, sorry I'm--”Kaori called, hurrying into the smoothie shop. She suddenly stopped as terror struck her face. Chinen and another girl were lip-locked. Tears began forming in her eyes as Chinen pulled away and soon spotted her.
Ri--” But her tears fell as she quickly ran off. “KAORI!”

He jumped a bit as something cold dropped on his face. He looked up to see it had begun to rain. He went inside the smoothie shop and waited and waited for Kaori to come. Time flew by, but she still hadn't shown up. He sighed staring out into the rain again when something caught his eyes.
“Kaori...” he said shocked as he saw her figure standing in the rain. He quickly jumped up and ran outside. As he became drenched in the rain, he stopped. He stared at where Kaori was and looked around. “Kaori!” There was no answer. He was alone.
“Achoo!” he sneezed the next morning. He had caught a fever from standing in the rain too long and happened to get sick. Soon his door opened, “Yuri~! How are you feeling?” He smiled a little to his friend Yuto, “I'm okay... Just tired. What about you? You look worried...” He sat down next to him, “Yuri, listen. I was in town the other day... and I saw Kaori--”
“You did!” he said as he shot up. “Where?!”
“Calm down...” he said. “She wasn't too far from the smoothie shop when I last saw her. You won't like to hear that she wasn't alone... a guy was with her.” He shrugged, “So, it could be her cousin-”
“He had his arm around her the entire time.” he stated. “Yuri, she's moved on. She has a boyfriend.” He flinched a bit and thought. Yuto sighed, “I think you should move on as well... what happened between you two... sure it was great at first, but its only memories now. You can't go back to how things were.”
“...” he said as Yuto got up, “I'm gonna be late for school.. I'll come see you afterwards.” He nodded as he then grabbed his house phone and tried to call Kaori again.
'The number you are calling with has been blocked by this number.'
“...Damn...” he groaned as hung up. “Kaori...”

“Chi-kun! I'm back! And I brought, Ryosuke with me!” Yuto smiled as he came into his room. “How're you feeling?” He nodded, “A bit better... how was school?” Yamada answered, “Boring...”
“Ah, Yama-chan.” he then lit up. “You just got a new phone recently right?” He nodded. “Lend it to me, please.”
“Uh... sure...” he said a bit confused. Chinen took it and dialed a number.
“Hello?” a voice answered in curiosity.
“Ri-chan!” he lit up happily. “Please don't hang up on me! Can we talk?!” There was silence on the other line. “Ri-chan, please! Let me just explain myself and if you still want me to leave you alone then I will!”
“... fine...” she stated. “But I'm not meeting at the usual place...”
“Where ever you want if fine.” he smiled relieved.
“... I'll let you know.. I've been pretty busy lately.” she sighed.
“Hai!” he stated. “Ne...Kaori, I really miss you...”
“.... I gotta go...” she said as she hung up.
“Chi-kun, are you sure about this?” Yuto wondered. He nodded with his large smile, “Yea... I'm gonna see Kaori again!” Yamada responded, “We mean, it's been a year... things have changed.”
“Kaori is Kaori, not matter what has changed.” he said.
“What about her boyfriend?” Yuto wondered as his head hung, “..Despite her new boyfriend... I still want her to know the truth... things might not be the same, but as long as she knows the truth, we can hopefully still see each other... just being with her... that's all I need to be happy.” His friends sighed as Yamada said, “Alright... it's your decision. We're heading off okay?” He nodded, “Ah, Yama-chan, can I hold onto your phone... just for today...” He groaned, “Fine... here...” Yuri waited and waited for her to call back. 5 days passed, but he never got a response. It was Saturday and he sat inside the smoothie shop. It's was a slow day, so he was the only customer in there. He stared sadly out the window as sky became darker. The weather lately has been down just like he has.
“YURI!” he suddenly heard as Yuto and Yamada bursted in with someone.
“Ow!” she groaned as she was dropped in the booth. “Geez, you guys didn't need to be so rough...”
“Yuri!” Yuto smiled. “Happy Birthday! I'm sure you'll like the gift we found you!”
“Kaori!” Chinen lit up as he saw who she was. He hugged her as she quickly pulled away. She got up and turned to the his friends, “Look, I'm loaded up with stuff to do! I have to go!” They however blocked her way, “Not until after you talk to Yuri.” She groaned in annoyance as Chinen questioned, “Ri, can we please talk... I'll try to make it fast...”
“...Fine.” she sighed. Yuto and Yamada waited in by a table on the other side of the shop. She sat down, “This is about what happened the day I left right? Look, I don't care what happened. I've moved on.” He answered, “... What happened.. that day... I swear I didn't want that to happen-”
“But it did happen.” she told him. “You can't changed the fact of what you did!”
“Ri, I know its the oldest trick in cheater history, but she was the one who kissed me. I swear I didn't see it coming and I pulled away as quick as I could!”
“...that is the oldest trick...”
“But it's the truth.” he told her. “You know me, Kaori. You know I wouldn't do that to you. You know I love you.” She turned away from him, deep in thought. “...Chinen... it's different now.. I told you I've moved on...”
“You still don't believe me?” he said as his heart sank. “Ri, I get it, that you've moved on and you have a new boyfriend and everything... but I just want you to know the truth. I still love you and I always have! I would never ever cheat on you!” She shut her eyes to prevent tears as it began drizzling outside. “Kaori--” He grasped her shoulder as she she quickly shrugged him off and ran out. “KAORI!” He quickly ran out after her.
“Kaori, hold on!” He told her finally catching up. Even though she was drenched it rain, you can tell she was crying. “Kaori, what's wrong? W-Was it something I said?” She stared at the ground, “...I wanted to forget everything... what happened that day, even you... it was going fine, until now...”
“Ri, I'm sorry... I'll leave you alone now.” he said sadly. “I just wanted to see you again and for you to know the truth... I was being selfish.” She snuffled, “Chinen... I... I couldn't get over you! No matter how many dates I went on, trying to get over you... it was pointless. I never got another boyfriend...sure there was dates, but no matter how great the guy was... they weren't you...” The rain continued to pour on them as she continued, “...B-but whenever I thought about you, I could only think of you and that girl kissing! It always torments me, so I thought if I tried to forget it ever happened, it'd be better..”
“But it was hard to forget...” he stated. “Because we had such fun memories together... even if there was bad ones, the great memories will always be there...” She nodded, “Yea...” He smiled, “I'm glad... that you still think of me, Ri...” He moved towards her and stood inches in front of her. “You know I still love you... do you still love me?” Their eyes meet as she nodded and he leaned into her, meeting her lips with his. She kissed him back as she wrapped her arms around his neck. His arms wrapped around their waist as the rain began to less. They pulled away and looked up to the sky as the sun slowly emerged. A smile appeared on his face, “Best Birthday ever...”
“Happy Birthday, Yuri!” she smiled brightly. “Now here's your present from me.” She kissed him as he happily kissed back.
