Second Chances Ch. 5

By: Nikki Dalan
Rating: M (Language is used!!!)
Pairing: Inoo Kei X OC (Riki {Also known as Ryelie})
Summary: Ryelie has no idea what had happened to her in the last year. Her friends and family tell her that she was just clumsy and injured herself, but she knows that there's more to it. What really happened to her? Why won't her best friends tell her anything? She's just about to give up hope when she overhears an interesting conversation one night. Her parents discuss what to do about a certain trial with someone named Jared. Who is he and what does he have to do with her family?

“What?!” Kei shouted as Hikaru and Nina talked to him the next morning. They nodded as he said, “He can't go free! After what he did--”
“Hey!” they heard as Riki ran in. She pouted, “Nina! I told you not to leave without me! Geez, I wanted to come to get Kei too!” She gave an apologetic smile, “Sorry Riki... I, uh, forgot...” She sighed, “Well, I was at least able to make it here....” She saw the look on their faces as she asked, “What's wrong?”
“Nothing... you don't need to worry about it.” Kei told her. She was about to ask again, but stopped and let it go. She sighed, “Well, alright. How about we get outta here and do something fun?” Hikaru smiled, “Great idea. Let's get going!”
“You guys sure you're alright?” Riki asked as she gave her three friends a look as they chilled at their favorite smoothie shop.
“Of course we are!” Nina smiled. “Why would you think otherwise?”
“You guys are never this quiet.” she pointed out.
“Quiet? That doesn't mean anythings wrong...” Hikaru told her as Riki laughed, “Hikaru, you're always so energetic and loud. You being quiet is just bizarre.” Kei smiled, “She has a point you know? But don't worry Riki, we're fine.”
“... if you say so.” she told them, still worried. “I won't ask about it... but does it have something to do with... the past year?” They all looked at each other as she said, “... ok. I see.” Kei sighed, “Ri--”
“Don't worry, I'm not gonna ask about it.” she smiled. “So, smoothies are great, but too much of it isn't. Let's find something else to do.” Hikaru questioned, “Like?”
“How about my favorite activity?!” Nina beamed as Riki sighed, “Here we go... get ready for a work out boys.”
“Oh no...” Hikaru sighed as Kei gave a confused look, “Why am I the only one who has no idea what's going on...” Nina beamed, “Well, we really have to do it since Kei has never been apart of it~ Let's go!” She quickly headed off as Riki smiled, “At least you guys are back to normal...”

“Come on, boys. Pick up the pace!” Nina yelled at them as they slowly dragged all the large shopping bags into their home. Kei dropped the bags and panted, “W-why... didn't … you... warn me... about this?!!” He glared at Hikaru as he told Kei, “Sorry man. Once she gets that look in her eyes there's no escape... believe I've tried.”
“Haha, and we aren't gonna let you get outta this and leave us with all this.” Riki smiled grabbing a bag. Kei gave her a look, “Hikaru and I were carrying all the shopping bags though! All you and Nina did was shop!” She rolled her eyes, “Nina was shopping. She makes me come along to give her feedback on the outfits she picks. As you can see...” She pointed at the very many shopping bags they brought in. “It's a tiring job. I think I'm gonna take a nap.”
“Alright.” Nina smiled. “I'm starving. What about you boys?”
“Yes!” Hikaru said as he joined her in the kitchen. Kei nodded and did as well.

“There has to be another way!” Riki heard as she awoke a little later. Kei was angrily talking to Hikaru and Nina as he continued, “He can't go free! Not after what he did to her! And wouldn't it be better for her to not be reminded of what happened?!”
“Kei, there is no other way!” Nina told him. “It's one or the other!” Hikaru told them, “Guys, just calm down! We'll figure out something. Let's just wait for Mr. And Mrs. Yamamoto to come home. WE'll talk to them about all this...”
“This needs to be solve already. The sooner he's accused guilty the sooner we don't need to worry about him anymore.” he thought. Nina responded, “We can't just rush through this Kei! Think it through! He's just waiting for us to screw up and when that happens, he'll be back for revenge. We need to think through this all carefully so just chill!” He groaned, “...Fine. But the longer we wait, the more of a chance he's got.”
“Come on. Don't say that...” Hikaru told him. “They'll be here in a few minutes---”
“Riki?” Nina spotted her as she stood at the doorway of the dining room. A surprise look came on her face as she said, “Sorry... I shouldn't have listened...” She ran off back into her room as Nina sighed, “I'll talk to her....”
“Ri?” she heard Nina call from outside her door. She opened the door a bit. “Can I talk to you?” Riki was sitting on her bed, hugging a pillow as she was in thought. She nodded, “Sure... what about?”
“How much did you hear?”
“Not much... just from when Kei wanted to find another way...” she told her. Nina sat down beside her, “Don't worry so much, alright? Things... well there just getting a little complicated. We'll handle it though ok?”
“I'm fine with it... seriously. 'mI completely clueless to whatever you guys are talking about anyways...” Riki told her. “But, I'm just worried about you guys. Whatever is going on is really getting to you all.” Nina hugged her, “Relax. We'll be fine. This will all blow over in no time.” She smiled, “Alright. If you say so.”
“We're home~!” they soon heard as her parents came into the house.
“Hey mom. Dad.” Riki smiled to her parents. Her mother smiled, “And how are you all? Hello, Hikaru, Kei. Glad to see you're doing better...”
“Thanks, Mrs. Yamamoto.” Kei answered. “We're fine.”
“Hey, Ri. Let's have a girl's day out.” Nina smiled. Riki nodded, “Alright then. Let's go.”
“Well be back soon.” Nina told them as she nudge Kei. “You guys can chill here for a while. Go ahead and talk about whatever.”
“Nice and relaxing, right?” Nina asked as Riki nodded. They sat in a hot spring as Riki flinched a bit. Nina asked, “You alright?”
“Yea, just my scars....” she pouted.
“They'll heal eventually.”
“But the mark will still be there.” she sighed. Nina glared, “Hey, we're suppose to be having a fun, relaxing day out. No sad faces.”
“Sorry.” she smiled. “It's just...”
“I know... I'd want to know to.” Nina told her. “Look, I don't want to bring back the horrible things you had to endure. But i'll tell you this. Someone caused it and he's the reason we're so pissed and not ourselves right now.”
“... that Jared guy you were talking to my parents about?” she asked as Nina's eyes went into shock.
“You heard that too?” Riki nodded as Nina said, “Ri, just don't think about it. At all. That jerk put you through so much suffering and with the trial coming up... its bringing a lot of complications...” She soon saw Riki staring at the water, she was deep in thought as she began getting images again.
Calm down...” she sighed into the phone. “I just overslept! Stop yelling already! I'm heading out the door right now!” She quickly put on her shoes, grabbed her bag, and got an apple as she groaned, “We'll I didn't ask you to walk me to school, Kei... Oh god, just go to school! No need to wait for me-” Her door bell rang as she sighed, “Ugh, hang on.” She looked through the peephole as a surprised look came on her face. There was a group of guys, a gang.
Kei....” she said frightened.
What? Who's there? Please don't tell me he's back already....” he quickly asked concerned.
We know you're in there! Open up!” they shouted through the door.
Kei, it's that gang... the one you're always fighting with... what do I do?!” she panicked. Suddenly, her windows shattered as rocks were thrown. Terror filled her body.“Ah!”
Ri! Just hang on! I'm rushing over right now!” he said. “Just don't hang up!” She nodded as the gang members jumped in through the windows. She ran towards her room, throwing random things at them, stalling. She locked herself in her room as she panted, “Kei, hurry! This door isn't gonna hold---Ah!” They banged on the door as she was thrown to the ground, dropping her cell phone. She quickly ran towards her window, but one of them grabbed a hold of her.
let me go!” she screamed as he placed a handkerchief over her mouth. A strong scent of chloroform entered her body as she began drowsy and fainted.
“Riki!” she jumped a bit as Nina shook her.
“W-What?”
“Don't do that! You're scaring me!” Nina told her as she bit her lip, “Sorry...” She sighed, “You remembered something didn't you?” She nodded slowly as she said, “... Images keep popping into my head... A lot lately... but the recent one....” Nina saw the look on her face, “Your recent memories have been the horrible ones. Right?” She nodded, “They're... terrifying... Ni, is- was Kei.. in some kind of gang?”
“What? No way-- oh. You remembered his constant fighting streaks huh?”
“... and a gang he used to fight...” she thought. Nina sighed, “He's not.. or wasn't in a gang. He just loved to fight as a stress reliever... that is until you began occupying him. He stopped fighting because you always got mad at him about it.”
“Oh...” they sat in silence as Nina then said, “Look, we didn't have this conversation alright? Kei would kill me if he knew we talked about your past...” She smiled, “My lips are sealed.”
