How We Met [1/2]

By: Nikki Dalan
Pairing: Yaotome Hikaru X OC
 Rating: PG
Summary: After losing his beloved girlfriend, Hikaru has been depressed and feels so lonely without her. Will his friends be able to bring him out of his misery and help him find a much better girl?

It all began on a very special day. My anniversary with my girlfriend Reina. We've been through a lot together... being a celebrity its hard to find time to be with her, but she's still been by my side. It's been two months since we've seen each other. After two long months I'll finally get to see my beloved girlfriend again... but...
“Hikaru...” I heard her sweet voice on the phone as I answered it. I smiled, “Rei... where are you? I'm already waiting by the park.” I heard sadness in her voice as she said, “There's something I need to tell you...”
“What's wrong?” I asked worried.
“... I'm breaking up with you.” my heart sank as I heard those words. I quickly asked, “What? Why? Rei, I still love you, don't you feel the same?!”
“I'm sorry Hikaru... my feelings have changed. This is goodbye.” she said hanging up.
“Reina! Reina!” he called into the phone heart broken. I stared at it, tears forming in my eyes. I put my phone away, and threw the bouquet of roses in the trash as I headed back home.

“Is he still sulking?” I heard Yamada ask worried. It's been two weeks since Reina broke up with me. I've spent the time, glued to my bed. Yabu nodded, “What do you expect? He was really in love with her... and she broke his heart. And what makes it worse was that she didn't even face him when she broke up with him...”
“That coward... Hikaru's too good for her. He shouldn't cry over a girl like her.” Yamada stated. Yabu sighed, “There has to be someway to cheer him up...” Yabu then lit up, “I got an idea!” He headed into my room where I was laying lifeless on my bed, “Hey, get up! We're all going out!”

I might not have thought it was that great of an idea then... but now I know that it was. If it wasn't for Yabu's brilliant plan of going here... I would probably still be in my room sulking... still having a broken heart... we we never when there... I might have never met her.
“Why the hell did you guys take me here...” I groaned annoyed. They stood in a club, full of girls as Yabu said, “The best way to get you over a heartbreak is to get you a new girl. Go and look for someone you like!” He and the other guys began having some fun dancing and talking to girls as I sighed, “I just wanna go home...” I sat down at a table just watching the guys have fun.
“Ha, you look like you're having a blast.” I soon heard as a girl took a seat if front of me. Her brown hair was curly at the end, she wore a bright pink shirt, a short black skirt and long boots. She had thin eyeliner around her attractive hazel eyes. I answered sarcastically, “yea... I'm the life of the party.”
“Hehe, so why are you sitting here all alone, when all the fun is just a few steps away?” she gave me a cute smile, showing her pearly white teeth. I told her, “My friends dragged me here... I never wanted to come.” She pouted, “Why don't you at least try to have some fun? Come on!” She grabbed my hand, pulling me to the dance floor. She began dancing to the loud, almost ear-piercing music as I stood there.
“Come on~ You're a Johnny's! Show off your moves!” she gave me a slight push. I sighed and began dancing along. She smiled, “There you go! Now that's having fun!” I smiled, for the first time in a while. I was actually having a good time. After a few more songs, we both took a break. I bought her a drink and asked, “Oh, I never did get your name? I'm Yaotome Hikaru.”
“Just call me Sara.” she smiled. “Thanks for the drink. You didn't need to.”
“It's my way of saying thanks for getting me to have some fun...” I beamed. She nodded, “Anytime~! It's what I do! If boys were all work and no play, there would be no fun with them! They need to let loose and just chill sometimes.”
“So you seemed to be having a good time..” Yabu strolled over to them. I nodded, “I've gotta admit, it's not as bad as I thought. Thanks to Sara here.”
“What can I say? I'm just so fun to be around...” she giggled.
“You sure are.” Yabu smiled as he wrapped an arm around her. “But don't have too much fun with him, or I will get jealous...”
“No promises.” she laughed as he gave her a look, “Sara...”
“I'm kidding. Relax, Kota...” she stated playfully kissing his lips. “You know I've only got eyes for you.” He smiled, “Make sure to keep it that way.” She nodded, “Come on. Let's dance some more!” She pulled me away as Yabu took a bathroom break.
“So... you're Kota's girlfriend... the one we heard so much about.” I stated as we danced again. She nodded, “Aw, really? He talks about me that much.” I nodded, “Yea. A lot...” She smiled, “He talks a lot about all of you guys too.... I heard... about what happened with your girlfriend...”
“Oh...” I said, my smile vanishing.
“Sorry to bring it up... but if there's anyway I can help, be sure to let me know! It's always great to get a girl's perspective!” I nodded, “Thanks, Sara.” She then asked, “So... out of curiosity, is there any girl here you like?” I took one last glance around and shook my head, “Nope... not one. Club girls... they aren't really my type.”
“Hmm, I see...” she thought. “Oh! Are you free next weekend?”
“Um... I don't think we have any concert or rehearsals until next month... so yea. Why? I thought.
“My cousin recently bought a beach house and is having a housewarming party. A bunch of people's gonna be there, including my cousin's classmates. She attends an all girls college so maybe someone there will catch your eyes. Come by for some fun~!” she invited him. “Kota and Ryosuke will be coming too.”
“... I'll think about it.” I said.
“Alright... I really hope you'll come.” she told me. “You really shouldn't grieve so much... its all in the past... move on.”
“... its not that easy for me...” I said as I looked at the time. “I should get going. It was nice meeting you Sara.” She nodded, “See you!”

Sara was a great friend. She really helped me with moving on. She helped bring me to the right place... the right place to meet her...
“You guys... stop dragging me all over the place!” I scolded Yamada and Yabu. “Can't you just leave me be?” Yabu shook his head, “Nope, you're gonna have some fun! No more laying on your bed all day! It's not good, you know?” I sighed as we approached Sara's cousin's beach house. There was a playfully music being played, strangely, it was too soft for a piano to be playing at a party. Usually it would be more upbeat music. However, there was a bunch of people there, socializing and having lunch. So many people were there.
“Kota~!” we soon heard as Sara jumped on him happily. “Finally! You're late!”
“Sorry...” he smiled to her. “Someone was being uncooperative.” He gave me a look as I turned away. Sara giggled, “Looks like I got more work to do today, huh? Shall we get started, Hikaru--”
“NO WAY!!!” they heard a loud scream as a girl ran over to them. “Sara!!! You didn't tell me you were bring your boyfriend and his band!! They could've been the live band to perform!” A girl with short black hair and dark brown eyes approached them excitedly. “Hi, I'm Dinah. Sara's cousin! Glad you can join us! I'm a big fan of your music!”
“Thanks! We appreciate the support.” Yamada smiled.
“Anyways, hope you have fun at the party~! If you need anything, don't be afraid to ask me!” she beamed. We nodded as Yabu hung out with his girlfriend, Yamada headed right for the food, and I took a seat in a lonely corner. As I sat there quietly, I took a look around. There were in fact lots of girls... but none of them were like Reina... she was fun, loyal, always there for me... someone I loved having by my side....
“Hikaru!” I heard as Sara stood in front of me pouting. “Stop being a loner and have some fun! Talk to some girls!”
“I'm really not in the mood for this--”
“It's not that hard to talk to girls. Come on.” she said as I sighed following her. As she began talking to some girls I just listened to the soft piano music playing. Sara seemed really into her conversation so I snuck away. I finally found the piano, where I saw a petite girl with shoulder length black hair. She was peacefully sitting there, her eyes closed, letting the music move her fingers.
“Yuna!” I heard Dinah yell, as the girl at the piano stopped. “The live band just got here. Thanks again for playing! You were great!”
“Thanks, Dinah.” she smiled getting up.
“No problem. Be sure to stay for the party and have some fun!” she said running off as Yuna nodded, but surprisingly she headed out of the beach house and took a seat on the porch.
“Hey... that was really great in there. Your playing.” I said following her out. She smiled, “Thanks... my sister taught me-- hey! You're Hikaru from Hey! Say! JUMP!” I smiled nodding. She stated, “I'm Ishikawa Yuna. My sister and I are big fans.”
“Thanks... we really appreciate the support.” I told her, taking a seat next to her.
“So what's a JUMP boy doing at a private party like this?” she questioned.
“My friend's girlfriend is the owner's cousin.” he explained. “So he dragged me along. What about you? Are you friends with the owner?”
“Sort of. She and my sister are in some of the same classes. But my sister was busy this morning, so Dinah asked me to play the piano in my sister's place.” she explained. I thought, “You and your sister must be very close.”
“Yup.” she smiled happily.
“So why are you just waiting out here, instead of having some fun?”
“Piano lessons are in an hour. My sister should be coming soon.” she stated when they soon heard, “Minna! It's time for the watermelon eating contest! Are there anymore competitors?” Yuna sighed as she got up, “Want to come with me to contest?”
“Sure... but shouldn't you wait for your sister to come?” I wondered.
“Hehe, something tells me she's already here.” she giggled going over to the contest. There were 5 people in the contest, 3 boys, one happened to be Yamada, and 2 girls.
“Wow... Yamada is really fast...” I stated staring at him.
“DONE!” they heard a yell as the girl on the farther end of the table finished the 7 large watermelon slices. Dinah smiled brightly, “And we have a winner! Congrats, Kazu!” She smiled happily as Yamada went over to talk to her.
“Kazu-nee-chan!” Yuna went over to her as I followed. “Congrats!”
“Hehe, arigatou sis~.” she smiled. “Great job Yamada, you were very fast out there too.”
“Haha, its surprising to see someone beat this Buta.” I joked as the girls giggled and Yamada gave me a look, “I'm not a Buta!”
“Ah~ We're gonna be late Nee-chan.” Yuna said looking at the time.
“Ah! Let's go then. Oh, it was nice meeting you Yamada...” she smiled to him. She then turned to me, “Oh, and I never properly introduced myself to you. I'm Ishikawa Kazuko. It was nice meeting you Hikaru~!” I nodded, “Same to you...” Her pretty long black hair was tied in a ponytail to the side. Her bangs hung just above her light brown eyes. She smiled and said, “Well, hope to see you guys again.” The two ran off as we hung out at the party for another hour or two.

I had different feelings during that party... things were still so lonely and depressive for me... it wasn't until a few days after that. A few days after the beach housewarming party... that I was finally becoming a little more happier every day... and its all thanks.. to her...
“Hikaru~!” I heard as someone entered my room. I groaned, not looking up from my pillow, “What?” Yamada gave me a smile as he said, “Get up~ We're going out!”
“No.” I answered, not moving at all.
“Hikaru!” he pouted. “Come on! You're two much of a good guy to cancel on a double date with cute girls!” I sighed, “Why did you even plan a double date?” He answered, “I didn't... Remember Kazuko? From the watermelon eating contest? I asked her if she wanted to hang out later today, and she said yea, but she's bringing her sister along. Please, come! I don't want her sister to be all alone.”
“Can't you ask Yuto? Or Keito?” I complained.
“All the other members are busy... and you need to get out, instead of laying here all day!” he stated. “I swear this is the last time I'll ever drag you into something! I won't take you to anymore clubs or dates or parties.”
“Fine.” I said getting up. He was finally going to leave me alone...

“Ishikawa!” I heard Yamada yell as she and her sister approached. Today, Kazuko had her pretty black hair let down, she wore cute clips on the side. Yuna had her hair the same as it was during the party. She smiled, “Just call me Kazuko. This is my sister, Yuna.” He smiled, “Nice to meet you.” She smiled, “Same to you...”
“So, what are we planning to do today, Yamada? Another watermelon eating contest?” Kazuko smiled happily. He laughed, “Haha, how about I treat you guys to some smoothies instead?” She nodded, “Sounds good.”
“So, were you dragged into this too?” I heard Yuna ask. I gave a small smile, “Yea.”
“Sorry about that.” she sighed. “I told Kazu I didn't need to come, but she sort of dragged me here too.” I shrugged, “It's not your fault... Yamada's just trying to be a good friend. And I'm sure your sister has good intentions for dragging you into this.” She smiled softly with a laugh, “Yea... she does.”
“I want watermelon!” Kazu smiled happily as Yamada went to order their smoothies.
“Wow, Kazuko.” I smiled at her. “You really like watermelon don't you?”
“I LOVE watermelon!” she giggled. “I absolutely love it!”
“Haha, I'm sure we all know that.” Yuna smiled. “You make it too obvious.”
“I guess I do...” she stated. There was a silence as she then asked, “So Hikaru? What's it like being a successful popular celebrity?” I thought, “I guess it's alright. I have a lot of fun on stage, putting on performances...”
“but...”
“Sometimes it can be.. overworking I guess.” I thought. “I don't have time for normal things... most of the time, I'm always practicing, composing, everything I do is usually for work.”
“Well you're on a break now!” she told him. “No work here. Only fun, so I do not want to see anything but a smile today~!” I laughed a bit, “Alright then~!”
“Here's the drinks!” Yamada said, carrying over their smoothies.
“Wohoo! Thanks Yamada!” she beamed as she got her drink and drank it. Yuna nodded as he smiled, “Anytime. SO what shall we do after this? Movies? Mall?”
“The mall!” Yuna smiled.
“Alright then... we'll go there.” Yamada said as he took a drink of his strawberry smoothie. I sighed, “Well, I'll be back... I'm gonna go to the restroom...” I got up and went as they nodded. As I left the bathroom, I was surprised to see Kazuko, quietly hiding by the front door, watching Yuna and Yamada talk.
“What are you doing?” I asked as she jumped.
“You almost gave me a heart attack..” she said taking a breath. “Don't sneak up on me like that...”
“Sorry...” I said. “But why are you hiding over here? Let's get bak to the table.” I headed over as she quickly grabbed my arm saying, “No! Don't!” She pulled me down, hiding behind the wall next to the door. She slowly peeked up as I looked too.
“Good, they didn't see you...” she said.
“Okay, what are we doing?” I wondered completely clueless. She whispered, “Okay... the whole point of me accepting Yamada's offer to hang out today was for my sister. She's a huge Yamada fan, so I thought this would be a great opportunity for her.”
“And so... you're giving them time alone together?” I asked as she nodded, “Yup~! And it looks like its really working out between them!” I looked at the two of them, happily smiling as they talked. I nodded, “Yea, it does seem like things are going well.”
“Can you do me a favor?” she asked. “Let's let those two be together. Just the two of them.”
“Alright, I can do that.” I replied as she smiled, “Thanks, Hikaru.” We watched them for another few minutes then quietly left and began walking off together.
“So... your sister's a Yamada fan? What about you?” I asked as she smiled, “Well aren't you curious to know? Hmmm.... I could tell you... but its more fun if you figure it out on your own..”
“Awww, you're gonna make me think about this...” I pouted with a laugh as she giggled, “Yup! I'll give you one hint. It's not Yamada. So that leaves 9 members to guess from.”
“Alright... is it Kota?” I asked as she sighed, “It's no fun if you just ask straight up... ask me about personalities.” I smiled, “Fine, I'll play by your rules...let me think...” As we took a seat in a nearby park, I said, “Do you like the flirtatious types?”
“Hmmm... not really. I'm okay with a little flirting, but not a lot.” she thought. I thought to myself, “So that crosses Kota out...
“Okay... what about energetic, loud types?” I questioned as she nodded, “They're lots of fun. I wouldn't mind a boy like that~!” I asked, “How tall do would you want your guy?”
“As long as he's taller than me.” she stated. I thought, So not Chinen, Daiki, or Ryutaro....
“Do you like who are more cool or do you like them more funny and cheerful?”
“Hm... that's a good question...” she thought. “The cool types are interesting, but I think I like guys with humor just a little more.”
“Alright... so that leaves Kei and Yuto.” I said as she giggled. She sighed, “Anymore questions?” I thought when we heard a phone ring. She took hers out to see a text message. She stated, “Sorry, Hikaru... I gotta get going. Piano practice...”
“Oh, its okay.” I smiled. “Thanks for the interesting day.” She laughed, “Stick with me and you'll have plenty of days like today. Hey, next time we meet... I want to know if you figure out who my bias is.” I nodded, “Alright then, one last question before you go?”
“Alright, make it quick.” she smiled.
“Wanna meet up this coming friday?” I smiled. “That way we can finish your little game...”
“I guess I wouldn't mind that.” she thought as she began heading off. “See you friday then.”
