Summary: Rai travels to Japan in hopes of meeting her beloved idol, Ryosuke Yamada. She must also be able to support herself and her family back home by working a job. Will she be able to meet the idol of her dreams?
A few weeks had past since running into Yamada Ryosuke... Rai had convinced herself that that was all her imagination. She thought, “He's a celebrity... would he really go out like that where his many fangirls can spot him a mile away?”
So one day, she had her day off, she decided to make money off her part-time job as a dog caretaker. Luckily for her, there was only one dog to take care of today. After preparing some lunch and getting ready, she put Biscuit, the young labrador retriever on a lease and headed out.
“Biscuit~ Fetch!” she smiled as she threw a stick through the park and he chased after it. They continued to play as she soon set down a blanket to sit on. She got ready for lunch when she heard, “Ah.... you're... the girl from the grocery store...” She turned and in surprise said, “Yamada---”
“SH!” he interrupted her. “I'm in disguise for a reason... I don't want anyone noticing me.” She told him, “Um... sorry--”
“Ruff~ Ruff~” they heard as Biscuit began playing with Yamada's dog Cookie. They both smiled as she then asked, “Ah, would you like to join me for some lunch?”
“It's fine I don't want to intrude..”
“It's alright. I made plenty.” she beamed. “I even have some strawberries.” A large smile formed on his face as he nodded happily. And that's how their friendship had begun. It's been several months since their third meeting in the park and Rai and Ryosuke are inseparable.
“Ryosuke~!” he heard as Rai entered the room during JUMP's practice. “Gomen, did I interrupt?”
“No, we were just about to take a break.” he smiled. She beamed, “I have your groceries.”
“Thanks~!” he smiled. “You didn't need to. I was gonna stop by later...”
“And get chased by fangirls again? Not on my watch...” she giggled as he did. She then lit up, “Oh, and I got some strawberries for all of you guys. Since you're taking a break right now, you should eat some~”
“Ah! Arigatou Rai-chan!” they said happily as they all joined her for some.
“Well, I need to headed back... my break's almost over.” Rai said as she looked at the time. Ryosuke told her, “Okay. Don't overwork yourself.” She nodded, “I get off in an hour... wanna meet up at the park later?”
“Sure. I'll see you then.” he smiled as she took off.
“Ne, Ryosuke? How long have you been dating Rai?” Yabu asked him as he blushed, “W-we aren't dating!” Chinen laughed, “It sure seems like it... You two look so cute together~” He turned red as he said, “We're just close friends that's all...”
“Doesn't seem that way~” Hikaru teased. “It's so obvious there's something between you two.”
“There isn't alright?!” he said a bit annoyed. “... Let's just get back to practice.”
“*sigh* finally...” Rai said as she got off her shift.
“Ah, Rai. Here's your paycheck.” the manager told her as he gave it to her. She smiled happily. “Thanks~” She left and smiled, “Yes~ Now I can get some strawberry cake for Ryosuke and me. And I can send the rest home to my family.”
Her phone began ringing, “Hai?”
“Ah, Rai. Gomen. I won't be able to meet you at the park. We are still practicing.” he told her. She sighed, “Oh, well that's fine. Maybe tomorrow?” He replied, “Not sure... we'll be practicing a lot for the concert on Saturday.”
“Oh... well whenever you're free, give me a call.” she told him.
“Yea. I will. Ja.” he said as he hung up. She sighed disappointed, “Well... I guess the cake will just have to wait...as well as my confession...” For the rest of that week, the two inseparable friends, had gotten distant.
“Moshi moshi?” Ryosuke answered his phone the morning of his concert. Rai smiled, “Ryo,ohayo. I just wanted to wish you luck on your concert today. Ganbatte.”
“Hai. Ganbarimasu.” he replied. There was a silence as she asked, “Ne... Ryosuke, have you been avoiding me lately?”
“...No why would you say that?” he hesitated. She sighed, “We've been distant... and I dunno... I get this feeling you don't like me being around you anymore.”
“Rai, I love having you around.” he replied. “I mean, why wouldn't I? You're my best friend.” She smiled, “Alright...”
“So, you coming to the concert tonight?”
“I'm working late tonight again... sorry.” she told him. He gave a chuckle, “You work too much. Take a break...”
“Maybe the next concert.” she smiled. He nodded, “Alright. I'll talk to you later.” He hung up as stared at her phone, “... Alright. Next time I see him... I have to tell him my feelings for him...” She got ready for work. As she went to leave the house, the house phone rang. She picked it up, “Moshi Moshi—Ah~ Mom~!”
“Rai? How are things there?”
“Great! I'm about to go to work right now. Is something wrong?” she wondered. Her mother answered, “Of course not, but there's something we really need to talk about.” Rai asked, “What?”
“Coming back home.” Rai dropped her bags in surprised as she quickly asked, “W-what do you mean come home?! Mom, I'm doing everything that you and Dad asked. I'm supporting myself here and I making enough to support you all over there. Mom, I like it here. Why do I need to go home?!”
“We've gotten into some trouble... we need to pay off a large debt. We can't continue to have you live there. We need to sell the home that you're living in for the money and we need your help back here.”
“But Mom--”
“No buts. Rai, you're coming home. That's final.” she said as she hung up. Rai stared at the phone shocked, “... what am I gonna do...”
