Pairing: Inoo Kei X OC (Riki {Also known as Ryelie})
Summary: Ryelie has no idea what had happened to her in the last year. Her friends and family tell her that she was just clumsy and injured herself, but she knows that there's more to it. What really happened to her? Why won't her best friends tell her anything? She's just about to give up hope when she overhears an interesting conversation one night. Her parents discuss what to do about a certain trial with someone named Jared. Who is he and what does he have to do with her family?
“... I'm home...” she said as she went into the kitchen.
“Home before 7, Ryelie?” her mom giggled. “Isn't that a little early for a 16 year old girl?”
“Not for me.” she smiled. “Where's Nina? She would've tackled me by now?”
“I thought she told you. She went out with Hikaru not too long after you left.” she stated.
“... no she didn't... I'll just wait for her to come back.” she sighed as she went to her room. She thought about all the things she's been seeing in her mind and decided to write them down. Eventually she heard Nina's voice, “I'm home.”
“... lil late there don't you think?” Riki gave her a look as she came into their room.
“Riki! What are you doing back so soon?!” Nina jumped a bit surprised.
“You kinda told me not to be out to late...” she stated as Nina replied, “I didn't think you'd take me seriously...”
“So... you and set us up huh?”
“Wha--”
“You're not actually sick and Hikaru didn't actually have detention...” she pointed out as Nina sighed, “well... yea, we set you and Kei up. Speaking of which, how'd it go?”
“What?”
“Your date! What happened?! Was it great?!”
“... it started off fun...” she stated.
“Started off?” Nina said surprised as she nodded and explained, “We hung out at the mall, went to the beach again, then I went to his photo shoot and we just hung around the area... but...”
“What did he do?” she questioned. “I thought you and him were getting along great.”
“We were... er, we are... its not exactly what he did... its what he didn't do.” she stated. “Which is what I wanted to ask you...”
“Hmm... what would Kei not tell you?” she thought curiously. “He seems like the kind who would tell you anything...” Riki nodded, “I thought so too... but I guess not.”
“Well I'll be sure to tell you.” she smiled.
“Really?! Ni, you're the best!” she hugged her as she smiled, “I know~! So what is it?”
“Can you please tell me what's been going on this last year?” she asked. “I feel so weird that I can't remember and I've been having strange blurs of images lately... I think I might be regaining my memory, but I still can't remember.” An unreadable look appeared on Nina's face as she asked, “Why the sudden interest in your past?”
“Don't you think I deserve to know... it is my past and... I want to remember... like I want to remember meeting the boys, coming here for the first time... I want to remember it.” she replied.
“Ri, you trust me right?” Ni told her as she took a seat on her bed.
“Yea, of course!” she stated.
“Then trust me when I say this... you do not want to know what happened in the past year.” she told her. “Sure, you've made friends with Hikaru and Kei... but let's just say that there's also bad memories with all the good ones you've made.”
“I get that... I can't always have good memories--”
“You don't get it... Ri, let's just say that there was one event in the past year that... that really got to you... and it's been affecting you til recently.” she thought of a way to explain. “... Please don't ask again... I don't want to see you like that again...”
“It couldn't have been that bad...” she responded. Nina shrugged, “The way you told me before, it seemed really bad. Just drop the subject.”
“But Ni--”
“Drop it, Ryelie!” she interrupted. She got up and sighed, “I'm gonna take a shower....” Nina left as Riki thought to herself, “... Why does no one want to tell me?! Shouldn't I at least be able to remember my own past?!” For that week, she pestered her family and Hikaru about it, but no one told her a word about it. Sadly, she hadn't even talk to Kei since the incident. He hasn't shown up to her house or school to walk with them and they haven't hung out at all.
“... what could've happened that was so bad...” she thought as she laid on the rooftop of her school that Friday afternoon. She began thinking about the small pieces of memory she's been getting.
“So, I haven't seen any new cuts or bruises lately... has the fighting died down?” She sighed as he replied, “Truthfully, since befriending you, I haven't been fighting...”
“Ok, if worse comes to worse, I'll take them on and you get away, alright?”
“You know the whole point of the disguises are to avoid the fighting.” she stated in a 'as-a-matter-of-fact' tone. “You are not going to take them on.” He groaned, “Riki-”
“No, Kei. We're gonna stick together.”
“Riki, I'd risk my life, just to keep that smile on your face... I won't let him hurt you ever again...”
“... Hmm...” she thought. “Hmm... was Kei a fighter? and..who were we hiding from...Was there someone... who hurt me...” She then heard another voice in her head, one that sent shivers down her spine.
“Ryelie?”
“What's wrong Ryelie? Our first talk in the last six months and you've got nothing to say?”
“Don't piss me off right now Ryelie... look at me!”
“YOU BITCH!”
“...who...” she thought as she hugged herself, a bit scared. “Who was that...” She bit her lip, “... Come on Rye... you want to remember.. that includes this crazy, creepy guy... do I want to remember that bad...” Her phone began ringing as she answered, “Hello?”
“Riki, where are you?” Hikaru asked. “I'm waiting by the gate.”
“...You go ahead. I got stuff to do right now.” she replied. He wondered, “Oh, do you need some help?” She shook her head, “No, it's okay. Just go on. I'll be fine.”
“Alright then. I'll see you later.” he told her as she nodded. She sat up there in thought for another hour and decided to head home. It was now almost 6 as she headed for the gate, she heard, “Took ya long enough...”
“... w-what are you doing here?” She said surprised. He stated, “Waiting for you. Isn't that obvious?” She smiled, “I see that... but why... you haven't been around for the past week...” He sighed, “You forgot...”
“Forgot what?” she wondered.
“Our date.” he answered. “We planned it when we went out last time...” The realization hit her as she lit up, “Oh! Right! I'm sorry I forgot!” He shrugged, “Well it can't be helped...”
“Well we can still go...” she stated. “If its okay with you... I just need to get ready.” He nodded, “It's no problem. Come on. I'll walk you home.”
“Oh... Kei? You're here?” Nina said as she opened the door. He nodded with a smile, “Yea, Riki and I are going out--”
“AH! NO WAY!” she lit up happily as her eyes sparkled. She quickly pulled Riki in as she yelled at Kei, “Wait out here! I'll get her ready!”
“But--” he was about to say, but she closed the door in his face. Riki told, “Ni, that was--”
“Riki, we need to get you ready as fast as possible! Can't keep your date waiting!” she smiled as she quickly pushed her into her room.
