As everything cooked, she grabbed her books in her room and did her assignments in the kitchen.
“Yum, that smells great!” she heard as Yuto entered the kitchen. “Is it almost done?” She nodded, not taking her eyes off the book as she told him, “It's cooling off right now... Yuto, don't you dare touch my cake!” She jumped up as she heard him yelp, “Ah! Hot! Hot!”
“Ugh, you idiot! I told you it was cooling off! Of course it's hot!” she groaned slamming her book shut. She slapped his hand of the cake bowl as she grabbed a cup of water and gave it to him. “Seriously, why don't you ever listen to me?!” He downed the water rapidly as he fanned his mouth with his hands. “You're such an idiot...” He glared, “Yet, I'm smart than you. So that makes you more of an idiot.”
“Shut up. It's because you never give me time to actually work on my assignments and study for a test.” she told him. He groaned, still fanning his mouth as he lit up, “Hey! Ayame, make my tongue feel better!”
“How the hell am I suppose to do that?” she gave him a weird look.
“Maybe a kiss will make it better...” he smirked as he leaned his face into her. She quickly pushed him away, “God, for crying out loud! Haven't you heard of personal space?! Geez, if you want a kiss so bad, go ask some slut in the streets!”
“Then blow on my tongue.”
“Psh, stick your head out the window. The wind's cool enough to cool down your tongue. Ugh... leave me outta all your disgusting request.” she told him as she grabbed her books and went to her room. He thought as an evil smile formed on his face.
“Oh, Aya...” she heard as a knock came on her room.
“What do you want?” she groaned as she opened her door. He smirked, “How's your homework coming along?” She gave him a look, “Why do you care?” He put a hand on his chest, “Ouch... Aya. Don't you know I care about you?”
“... what do you want...” she told him with a straight face. “Do you need more snacks?”
“I want you to pick up a package for me...” he smiled. “It should be at the post office by now.”
“Can I go when I'm done with my homework?”
“No.”
“Why didn't you ask them to deliver it like you usually do?”
“Cuz I wanted you to get it. Geez, do you even have to ask?” he told her as he went back to his room. “Oh and Mom and Dad's gonna be home in a hour, so be back by then.” She groaned and left.
Truthfully, Raiya, and his parents treated me like their own daughter. I did all the chores and the errands, but I mean someone in the family has to do it right. Yuto's the only one who actually treats me like a maid. Sure it wasn't so bad when we were kids. Just cleaning up his mess and sharing my cookies with him, but as we grew up, his request got bigger and more painfully for me. Like the meal he wanted to make him earlier, lots of work and a lot of my time wasted. Not to mention, he makes me go to every single one of his performances to 'assist' him backstage. His meaning of assist is more of dictating me. Sure, they're great musicians, but its not fun being taken advantage of. Especially by Nakajima Yuto. At times like this, I'd like to run away to Shizu's place. Sadly, with only an hour to get the package and come home, I won't be able to.
“Yuto! Here's your package!” she yelled as she came back into the house. “Now leave me alone so I can finish my assignments.”
“Not so fast, Aya.” Yuto said as he emerged from his room, blocking her from entering hers. “Open up the package.”
“... Nothing's gonna pop out at me is it?” she asked suspiciously. He shook his head with a small laugh, “Calm down...It's for you. Put it on right away, got it?” She sighed as she went back to the box and opened it. Her face turned red as she screamed, “WHAT THE HELL IS THIS?!!!” Yuto ducked as she threw the box at him. “You pervert! There's no way in the world I'd wear this stupid slutty maid's outfit!” She threw the outfit in his face. “God, what do girls see in you?!”
“Psh, what don't you see in me?” he asked fully. “I mean, I'm everything a girl could want! I'm smart, hot, strong, hot, I play the drums... Man if I was a girl, I'd be all over me!” She rolled her eyes, “Not to mention totally conceited. I can't believe girls are crazy enough to fall for a guy like you...”
“Your friend's one of them...” he stated. She responded, “Well, she's an exception, at least she doesn't follow you around during lunch.”
“Alright, so are you saying you're a guy since you haven't fallen for me?” he asked with a raised eyebrow. She snapped back, “No, I'm just a girl with taste.” They stood face to face, glaring each other down.
“I'm home!” they soon heard as Yuto's mother walked in. She stared at the two as she sighed, “Geez, are you two at it again? Seriously... Yuto go help your father bring in the grocery bags. Aya have you started dinner?” She nodded and went into the kitchen as Yuto went outside to help.
“Urgh!” Aya growled as she stormed outta the house. “That jerk! That jerk! That jerk!”
“...hey, you alright?” she heard as she approached the meeting spot she and Kento always part ways home and meet on the way to school. She sighed, “Yea... just a lil pissed.”
“Bad morning huh?” he smiled. “Parents?”
“Not exactly...” she responded. “I don't wanna talk about it.... Can't wait to get to school... my only sanctuary.”
“Wow, not even your room?”
“Psh, no. Even in there I'll be ordered around.” she responded. He then asked, “Wow, is that why you never invite us over? Strict family?”
“Yea... that's why.” she said sarcastically, but luckily he didn't catch it.
“Well, I don't mind.” he stated.
“Kento, I really don't like having friends over. It's private okay? I don't want you feel like I don't trust you but its just the way I like things.” she explained. He sighed and put his hands behind his head, “Well, it does make me feel untrustworthy.”
“Sorry... but I completely trust you. Just for the record.” she smiled as he did, “Hey, since you don't like going home so much, how about we go hang out at the mall after school? It'll give you time to cool off and have some fun before going home.” She nodded, “Yea, I'd like that! Let me just let my mom know.” She quickly texted her foster mom and got the okay.
“Cool, we're all set.” She smiled. He nodded, “Awesome...” They entered their classroom as a hit came to Kento, knocking him down. “Ow.”
“Aya~!” Shizu said glomping her. “I told you not to hang around him sooo much! He's a bad influence for you!” Kento glared and quickly got up, “I'm not the one knocking people down Kuromiya!” She pouted back, “Seriously, I'm her best friend I know all her secrets unlike you, so stop trying to steal away my best friend!”
“Guys..” she sighed. “Come on. Just calm down already. School's barely starting.” She took a seat as the two turned away from each other and sat down. During break, while Kento was off fooling around with his guy friends and Shizu and Aya were with their girl friends.
“Hey, we're gonna go do some Karaoke after school. You girls in?” they asked as Shizu nodded. Aya shook her head, “Sorry, girls. I have to pass this time. I have plans.”
“What?! Aya~ You can't ditch us!” Shizu pouted.
“I'm sorry. If you had told me sooner I would've gone...” she told her.
“Come on. You're just gonna go home aren't you?” their other friend Reila said as she sarcastically laugh, “Haha, no I'm going to the mall.”
“With who?!” they all freaked out jumping outta their chairs and crowding around her desk. She leaned back, a bit pressured, “Uh, Kento...” Their excitement vanished as Shizu said, “Aya, you cancel that date right now! And I mean right now!”
“It's not a date, and I'm not canceling on him.” she told them. “Seriously, there's nothing wrong with him.”
“He's... plain, Aya. I mean look at all the extremely hot seniors!” Haruka told her with a squeal.
“They aren't my type...” she stated as Reila sighed, “Aya, you seriously need to get better taste.”
“What? Just because I don't have crushes on celebrities makes me have bad taste?”
“Yes!” Shizu told her. “I swear, the day you fall in love with a celebrities will be the end of the world.” She smiled, “Then lets all hope I don't ever fall in love with a star.”
“Shizu!” all the other girls whacked her. “We're trying to get her to fall in love with stars!”
“Sorry...” she pouted rubbing her arms. Aya then said, “Well I'm not gonna fall for them. I'd rather stick to down-to-earth guys like Kento. So will you all stop bugging me? I get enough of that at home...”
“Aya~! Were you waiting long?” she heard as Kento approached her after school. She shook her head, “Nope, just got here... now let's get going?” He nodded as they took off for the mall.
“Almost~Yay!” he cheered as she passed the level of the game in the arcade. She giggled, “Haha, you're such a dork... you're up.” He began playing as she watched.
“So...” he said, not taking his eyes of the game.
“So...” she responded as he thought, “I hear the Formal is coming up this friday. Girl's choice. You thinking of asking anyone?” She silently thought to herself, “Yes! I want you to go with me! Come on Aya! This is your opportunity!”
“Well, I was thinking about it...” she stated as she saw Kento had lost his last life. She smiled a bit, “Aw, come on Kento! You could do better than that!”
“Hey, I know it's girl's choice... but I still want to ask. Do you wanna go with me?” he said, still not meeting her eyes. Excitement filled her eyes as she nodded excitedly, “Really?! Yea, I'd love to Kento!”
“Really?” he lit up with a goofy smile, making her giggled. She nodded, “Of course!” He hugged her and cheered, “This is gonna be the best! Get ready for the most amazing night of your life, Aya!”
“Don't disappoint me, Kento.” she beamed. She screamed out loud, “This is the best day of my life!” Everyone in the arcade looked at her as she blushed. Kento then laughed and screamed even louder, “Natsume Ayame! I love you!” He lifted her up in the air and twirled her around as she turned beat red.
Straightforwardness... definitely the best. Especially on Kento. Why does he have to be so perfect?
“Yum~! Thanks Kento.” she smiled as they shared a large ice cream sundae. “It's delicious.” He smiled, “I'm glad you're enjoying yourself.” She nodded as he said, “So... I'm completely clueless on what to do at formal... Do you know?”
“... only from what I read in books.” she stated as he beamed, “You're such a bookworm... alright, what do the guys do for formal in the stories you've read?” She thought and said, “Well it is a formal, so getting a tux is one thing. Oh and your tie should match your date's attire...hmmm, I think that's it for the attire...”
“Okay... what about dance moves? Is it actually like ballroom or free style... I don't know how to waltz...” he admitted. “Sorry.”
“Its fine. I don't either.” she giggled. “I'm pretty sure its free style.”
“Alright.” he cheered. “So what color dress are you gonna get?” She shrugged as he lit up, “Hey, we're already here, so why don't we look around?”
“Why not?” she smiled as they began looking for their outfits. Sadly, during the 4th store they were searching, a call interrupted their date. Aya reached into her bag and answered, “Hel-”
“WHERE THE HELL ARE YOU?! I GOT CHORES THAT NEED TO GET DONE BEFORE MOM GETS HOME!” she heard loudly. She growled, “Oh well isn't that too bad... you've gotta do it yourself for once! I'm out right now and won't be home for a while--”
“Aya you get home right now and do my chores! I'm sooo busy today!” he shouted. She groaned, “You think I give a crap?! Do it yourself! You're ruining my fun!”
“You get home right now or I swear I will give you hell for the rest of your life!”
“Living with you is already hell...” she answered. “Besides your mom said I could have today off from chores because I'm always working hard...Gotta go now Bye~.”
“AYA!---” she hung up as Kento asked, “Wow... someone's angry.”
“Ignore him. He's just a big jerk who always wants things his way...” she stated continuing to look through clothes. Kento did as well asking, “SO was that a cousin or brother...”
“He's kinda my older brother... but the worst one at that...” she responded. “Oh hey. What do you think of this one?” She pulled out a spaghetti strapped, short silky light blue dress. He smiled, “It suits you... Now I gotta find a matching tie...” He looked and found a similar color. “Looks like we're good to go.”
“You have a tux already?” He nodded, “Yea... even if you turned me down and I didn't have a date, I was planning to show up. So should we get going? I don't wanna make your brother angrier.” She scoffed, “Please, he's angry on a daily basis. Forget him...”
“Well, still. It's pretty late.” he told her as they finished paying the cashier. They exited the mall as he smiled, “So, will I finally be able to walk you home?”
“Haha, just because you're my date to winter formal doesn't mean I'll change my mind about having friends see my place.” she told him as he pouted, “Aya~ Come on... How am I suppose to pick you up for the formal?”
“The usually meeting spot?”
“I can't let my date walk!”
“Come on, Kento... it's nothing different from walking to school.” she told him.
“Please?!~” he begged in a cutesy voice. She giggled, “Fine I'll think about it, but not today...”
“Yes~!” he cheered. She laughed, “That doesn't mean yes, Kento...” He shrugged, “It's the closest Shizu and I have ever gotten. Oh yea! In your face Shizu! Who's her best friend now?!” He smiled as she did in silence. Then he sighed, “Well... I guess since we're dating now... It's best boyfriend right?” She blushed a bit but nodded happily. He smiled largely and screamed, “YEAH!~ I GOT MYSELF AN AWESOME GIRLFRIEND!” She giggled, still red, “Kento! Don't be so loud!” He laughed, “Sorry... I'm just really happy...” She nodded, “Same here...”
“Then scream it out loud!” he told her. She thought and sighed, “I'VE GOT THE BEST BOYFRIEND IN THE WORLD!” All the bystanders smiled and giggled at them as he chuckled too, “Aya~, You are so freaking awesome.”
“Haha, thanks.” she said as she stopped. They had reached their fork in the road. “I'll see you tomorrow?” He nodded, “Have a good rest alright? I know I'm gonna have a great one.”
“Haha, I'm sure I will to...” she smiled.
“See you tonight then... in my dreams...” he laughed as she did, “You're so cheesy...I'll see you.” She walked off as he did, parting ways.
