Summary: Rai travels to Japan in hopes of meeting her beloved idol, Ryosuke Yamada. She must also be able to support herself and her family back home by working a job. Will she be able to meet the idol of her dreams?
“Great work today Rai. Your shift is over. You can head home now.” The manager of the grocery store told her as she sighed in relief. She gathered her stuff and left as fast as she could.
“Finally… this job is so boring…Not exactly how I pictured my Saturday to be…” she sighed in exhaustion as she headed home. It has been only two weeks since she began working there. It wasn’t the greatest job, but at least she was working long enough to support herself.
Rai Hayashi had recently come to japan a month ago from Canada. There were two main reasons that motivated her to come.
1. A job…. As long as she got a comfortable job, one that could support her and her family back home. Luckily for her, she was able to get the job as an assistant manger for a grocery store. You may wonder, why Japan? You can get a job anywhere! Well that is because of reason
2. To meet her idol. A few years ago, one of her friends introduced her to a band and immediately fell in love.
Yamada Ryosuke…..
Since that day, she has always idolized him and has always dreamt of meeting him.. much like many of his other fans. So that is why, she is in Japan.
“Oh… yum~” She said as she passed by a cake shop. She stared at the delicious looking strawberry cake and decided, “Maybe just a slice…” She went in as someone exited, bumping into her.
“Sorry!” he said as he quickly helped her up. “I’m really sorry but I’m in a rush!” He quickly ran off as she said, “It’s ok—“
“YAMADA!!!!” she heard as a bunch of girls ran out of the cake shop, chasing after the guy. A surprise look came on her face as she said, “… Yamada??!” She followed after, but seemed to lose track of them… both the fangirls and Yamada. She sighed in disappointment, but decided to head back for some cake.
“Hmm… could that really have been him?” she thought as she got home and began eating the strawberry cake. She sat down in front of the TV and began watching Yan Yan JUMP. She watched as her idol appeared. She looked at his attractive brown eyes, his appealing hair style… as she thought about the guy who ran into her. He had brown eyes and hair just like Yamada.
“Oh my gosh… That was him!” she said in excitement. “H-he actually talked to me…” She sighed, “Damn… if only… I could’ve hung out with him… It’s not every day you run into a celebrity— ” Her phone rang as she answered, “Hello?”
“Rai. Hey, its Ami.” She heard. Ami was one of her co-workers and friends at the grocery store. “I was wondering if you can take my shift for the next few days…”
“What?!” she groaned. “Why?”
“I caught a cold and I don’t know when I’ll get better… Please?” she begged.
“… Fine…” Rai sighed. She thought to herself, “At least I’ll be able to get a higher salary this month…”
“…Urgh…why did I take this stupid job…” she groaned as she sat in front of the cash register three days later. Ami was still sick so she had to take over again. There were barely any customers during the weekdays, Because everyone’s busy with school and work, business was always slow. Today, she was the only one working.
She listened to the boring music playing as she decided to organize some of the inventory. Within the next two hours, she had organized the entire grocery. Still no customers.
“…. Well at least this will all be worth it when I get my paycheck… just hang in there Rai.” She told herself when she heard the door open. Finally a customer. She went to go back to the front when she saw a bunch of people come in.
“Whoa… what’s with all the people?” she wondered surprised. She sat in front of the cash register again as she saw all the people following each other. They were all squealing happily and being noisy.
She asked, “Excuse me?! If you aren’t buying anything please leave. I don’t want any goofing around in here.”
“Wha… everyone buy something!” one girl said. Rai then noticed that they were all girls. She sighed and went back to her spot as they all grabbed an item in the store. “Whatever... at least we're making money today.” As she went behind the counter, a surprise look came on her face.
"Sh! Please don't say anything! These fangirls just won't leave me alone...” he whispered.
“....You're Yamada... Ryosuke....” she said in awe. He nodded, “Please stay quiet... I can't even go grocery shopping without someone noticing me.” She nodded, “Oh... hang on.”
She quickly ran to the back room and returned with a hair net and an employee shirt. She told him, “Put these on. You can pretend to be an employee here...”
“Thank you so much...” he said. She nodded, “Just try not to stand out... I'll see if I can get the girls to leave.” She headed over to the group of girls searching all over the store as she announced, “Can I help you girls with something?”
“No we're just looking...” they said.
“I'm having my lunch break soon, so everyone needs to start paying for their items.” she told them as they all groaned. Eventually they were all out as she closed the doors. Soon, Yamada in his disguise came over to her with a bag of items. He smiled, “I really appreciate your help.” She smiled back, “It's no problem. I'm just glad to help...” she told him as she added the total items.
“I owe you one...”
“It's fine. I'm just glad to have met you, Yamada-san.” she replied. “I've always been a fan.” As she put all the items in the bag, she gave it to him and said, “You can go out through the back door... just in case.”
“Thanks...” he said as he left. She thought as he walked out, “... Did I actually... just meet him...” After a few minutes she reopened and continued to work.
