Second Chances Ch. 2

By: Nikki Dalan
Rating: M (Language is used!!!)
Pairing: Inoo Kei X OC (Riki {Also known as Ryelie})
Summary: Ryelie has no idea what had happened to her in the last year. Her friends and family tell her that she was just clumsy and injured herself, but she knows that there's more to it. What really happened to her? Why won't her best friends tell her anything? She's just about to give up hope when she overhears an interesting conversation one night. Her parents discuss what to do about a certain trial with someone named Jared. Who is he and what does he have to do with her family?

“Ah~!! Cute!” Ryelie said as she tried on some clothes. She modeled for Kei as he smiled, “That is cute. Come on. I'll get it for you.”
“It's alright, Kei. You don't need to do that.”
“It's cool. If you want it, I'll get it for you.” he beamed as she did, “Thanks Kei~You're the best.” He laughed, “I know...” She giggled, “Well, if there's anything you want, let me know. As a way of thanks.”
“Hmmm... how about you go out with me friday night? And wear that dress right there?” he said, pointing to a silky violet spaghetti-strapped dress. A surprised look came on her face, “A d-d-date? Friday... with you?”
“Yea. If you're okay with it?”
“... well... ok...” she said shyly. He smiled in relief, “Really? Great! Let's go find your size.” Soon after having lunch and browsing a few more stores, Kei asked, “Hey, wanna stop by the beach again for a little fun?”
“Hmm, sure. But no splash fights!” she told him.
“Fine..” he sighed as they did. When they go there, they took a seat on the sandy beach as Kei got them some ice cream.
“Thanks.” she told him as she licked the strawberry ice cream. He nodded when he noticed her dazing out. He asked, “You alright?” She shrugged, “Well Yea I guess...”
“You guess?”
“Okay, look. Don't laugh or anything... First of... I would consider this a date. Wouldn't you?” she stated as he nodded. She continued, “Well... this is my first date...”
“...”she soon notice Kei had a hurt expression on his face. He sighed, “It's not bad that you haven't had a date til now... is that why you look so down?” She thought, as blurs of images appeared in her head.

So, I haven't seen any new cuts or bruises lately... has the fighting died down?” She sighed as he replied, “Truthfully, since befriending you, I haven't been fighting...”
Well that's good!”
Yea, instead of fighting, I have you to occupy me.”

“Not really... Even though I've never been on a date... is it weird if I say this is giving me major deja vu? I feel like it's happened before...” she thought. “The only times I've ever been to the beach it was never with just one guy. It was with a group of friend or my family... so I'm really confused on why I keep thinking this has happened before...”
“...” Kei bit his lips. And told her, “...I'm not sure... Sorry I can't help...”
“... It's okay... I'm probably just getting too much sun.” she beamed as she stood up. “Do you mind if we move some place shady?” He nodded, “Yea. We should probably head back soon.”
“But its only 2.” she stated.
“Haha, I know. I'm so much fun to be with... you just can't get enough of me can you?” he laughed as she giggled, “Obnoxious much?”
“Haha... actually I have a photo shoot at 3 and unless you wanna come with, it would be better to bring you home now.” he explained. She thought, “A photo shoot sounds fun. Would you care if I came along?” He smiled, “I thought you'd never ask.... Come on. Although don't get your hopes up too high. Photo shoots can get pretty boring...”
“I'm sure I can find a way to entertain myself...” she smiled as they were soon off.

“Inoo-san, please turn a little this way.” the photographer said. RIki watched as a bunch of people stood around watching the photographer take photo. She sighed as Kei soon came down for a snack break. “Wow... isn't it boring up there... just standing and having people take pictures of you?”
“Eh, you get used to it.” he shrugged. “Anyways, how're you holding up? You're looking really bored.”
“I am.” she sighed. “Especially after being scold by the producer.” She began mocking, “I do not want to hear one word out of you! I am running a serious business and I don't want anyone to get distracted because one of our models decided to bring a friend!” A large smile formed on Kei's face as he began laughing. She smiled as they soon saw a flash. The photographer smiled, “Inoo-san. I haven't seen you smile that brightly in a while.” He nodded, “I haven't been in this great of a mood in a while.”
“Hey, whatever you're doing to this guy, keep it up.” he told her. “We need more of those smiles.” She beamed, “Just call me up! I'll be sure to turn his frowns upside down~! Haha!” The two laughed some more as the photographer told him, “Seriously, you should bring this girl more often-- Wait a minute~ Is she the girl you're crushing on? The one you wouldn't stop talking about!”
“...N-no...” He said as a blush appeared on both their faces. “..T-this is my best friend Ri-Ryelie.” She smiled to him, “It's nice to meet you, sir.” He thought, “Right... that girls you wouldn't stop talking about was named Riki...” Kei turned super red as the photographer left them alone and he stuttered, “S-S-Sorry about him...He doesn't know what h-he's talking about...” He looked to see Riki deep in thought.

I'm glad I met you too... Riki... I really like you.” words echoed in her head. She soon realized it was Kei's.
I like you too Kei-”
No, I mean. I REALLY like you.”
Riki, I'd risk my life, just to keep that smile on your face... I won't let him hurt you ever again...

“Ri?” Kei called. He gave her a little shake as he asked, “You alright?” She shook out of her daze as she nodded, “Y-Yea... I'm fine.” Kei knew however that she was lying.
“Riki, you can talk to me about anything...” he told her. “I won't force you, but if you any help I'm here.” She nodded, “I know...” She thought and said, “Well... I just... never mind. Why don't you tell me about this Riki girl you're crushing on?” She laughed as he began blushing.
“Wha--”
“Wait...” A thought occurred to her as he flinched. She asked, “Why would you give me a nickname after your crush??” He sighed a bit relieved as she asked, “Come on Kei... Answer me!”
“N-no...” he tried to think. “... Ugh... Riki's just … the name of my sister's cat!”
“Your sister's... cat?” Ryelie asked a little suspicious. He nodded, “Yea. That cat's great! She so good so I talk very highly of her.”
“....Hahaha!” she bursted into laughter. “That was so obviously a lie, Kei! Haha, if you didn't want to tell me I'm okay with it... its personal so I'll stay outta it.” He sighed and thought, “... she's my best friend and.... my first love.” A surprised look came on her face as she saw the blush on Kei's face.
“... Really? Well I'm looking forward to meeting her.” she smiled. “And first love? No way! You're a freaking hot 17 year old model! You've had to have some crushes in the past!” He shook his head, “Nope... all the other girls threw themselves at me. Always wearing make-up... trying to be the main attraction... whereas she... she's always herself. Even when she sad, mad, scared... she may try to hid it sometimes behind her smile, but she's still herself.”
“... You really are in love...” she said in thought.
“Hey, what's up.... what are you thinking about?” he wondered.
“...Nothing... well...something. I've sorta always been the odd one out back home...” she told him. “All my friends... they've at least been in one relationship.... I was the only one who has never had a boyfriend or even gone out on a date. I have received confessions before... but I always turned them down... I guess I'm just clueless when it comes to love...” She sighed, “Anyways... I'm glad you could find someone you love. She's a lucky girl having a guy as awesome as you.” He smiled, “You think so...”
“I know so.” she smiled brightly. “So... what are we doing next?” He smiled, “Still up for more? Alright. Let's browse around the area. Not much to do when it's already almost 6.” She looked at her cell phone, “6? Wow... time really flies...” He nodded, “Now let's get going otherwise we won't have any time left.”
“Oh, Kei~! Let's look at that shop.” Riki said as she pointed to one. A surprised look came on his face as he thought, “Are you sure... they stuff there's sorta lame... why don't we look in this one over here?”
“Nah... i've got a good feeling about this one.” she said as she began to head over to it. He sighed, “Oh shoot...” He followed after her. She browsed around, “Kei, you liar. These aren't lame!”
“...they are to me...” he said.
“You alright?” she wondered. He shook his head, “Not really... mind if we--” He noticed her dazing out again.

I think one of them might've spotted you earlier, so that's why you're wearing that disguise. Let's hang out in here for a while, just to be safe.” a girl's voice said.
Hang on... one of them is still here.” she heard Kei's voice say.
Hmm, maybe we can sneak out with these disguises...”
Then let's get over to that cashier so I can pay for these.” Kei replied.
You better find a way to cover your face then...”
How's that?”
... let's just hope it'll work.” the girl sighed.

“Ri...” she soon heard as she said, “Um, yea?”
“You've been dazing out a lot lately... Is everything alright?” he said worried as she nodded, “Don't worry I'm fine.” He sighed, “Alright... it's getting late... how about I grab the car. Wait here okay?” She nodded as she stood outside the store and he left.
“... what is going on...” she sighed feeling her head. “What's with all these weird images... could.. could they be of Kei and that Riki girl...” She looked up at the sky, “But... why would I be seeing this... Was I there?” She looked around waiting for Kei when she saw a familiar walkway. She decided to take a little walk down the path as she heard the voices again, but this time with blurs of memory.
Coast clear so far...”she heard Riki's voice again. However, it seemed that she was Riki. She was clutching onto Kei's arm as they walked.
Don't worry. I think they're gone--” he said as she suddenly pulled him towards her. Riki hugged him and whispered, “Bury your face in my neck. One's looking right at you.” He did as he was told. After a few minutes, Kei asked, “Well, is he still watching?” She pulled away from him and nodded. They stared into each other's eyes as she took a glance again. She sighed, “I think he's waiting for us to do something...” There was silence as they just stared into each other's eyes.
What should we do?” he thought as slowly leaned into her, but as he was a few inches away from meeting her lips with his, she grasped his hand. “Let's just keep walking. Hopefully they won't follow...” He sighed and pulled his hand from hers and wrapped an arm around her, “Ok, if worse comes to worse, I'll take them on and you get away, alright?”
You know the whole point of the disguises are to avoid the fighting.” she stated in a 'as-a-matter-of-fact' tone. “You are not going to take them on.” He groaned, “Riki-”
No, Kei. We're gonna stick together.”
“... What the...” she said feeling her head again. “... Why am I... seeing things that happened with that Riki girl--” She thought again as the image replayed in her head. “No, Kei. We're gonna stick together.”She then lit up, “... That's... my voice...”
“Riki!” she jumped as Kei gripped her shoulder in worry, “I told you to wait by the shop!”
“...S-Sorry...” she said as she quickly walked over to his car and got in.
“You sure you're alright?” Kei asked as he began driving.
“... Kei... you said I can talk to you about anything right?” she asked as he nodded. She thought, “Can... you please tell me what happened before I was hospitalized?”
“... That was brought up randomly. Why do you ask?” he thought.
“Well, I dunno. I've just been seeing weird images lately... like I'm trying to remember, but I just can't... like when I sleep. I always see Hikaru.... hanging out with me at school... it seems like a memory... but I can't remember it ever happening.”
“That's really weird...” he thought.
“So... are you gonna tell me... about the past year that I can't remember...” she asked.
“I don't know your past year...” he laughed a bit as she sighed, “Kei... at least what you know.”
“... Riki, the memories will come back to you just give it time--”
“Kei, please. Just tell me.” she pleaded.
“Ri, you already heard the story, you fell down the--” he said as she interrupted, “Kei, the truth! There's no way a fall as small as that could injure me this badly! Please tell me!”
“... I can't.” he replied. “I can't tell you--”
“Well, why not?!” she begged. He groaned, “I just can't alright?! If you wanna know so bad go ask Nina!” She saw the annoyed look on his face as he soon pulled up into her driveway.
“... Fine...” she said as she got unbuckled. “... I'll ask her...” She got outta the car and went into the house. Not another word was said between them.
