How We Met [2/2]

By: Nikki Dalan
Pairing: Yaotome Hikaru X OC
 Rating: PG
Summary: After losing his beloved girlfriend, Hikaru has been depressed and feels so lonely without her. Will his friends be able to bring him out of his misery and help him find a much better girl?

Surprisingly, Yamada did stop dragging me into things... but that didn't mean Kota did. He would often drag me out, taking me everywhere he goes. That is until he heard that I was meeting up with a girl... he didn't bug me as much. After a couple of meetings with her, I still didn't know who Kazuko's bias was. It's been 2 weeks since then, but even though I don't know her bias, I've really connected with her. She's like one of my closest friends now...
“Kazu~!” I called to her as I saw her approaching.
“Hey, Hikaru.” she smiled. “So any luck yet?” I shook my head, “You are a confusing one... I can't figure out who your bias is.” She laughed, “I think you might be over thinking too much...”
“Can't I have another hint?” I pouted pleadingly as she giggled. She patted my head, “Aw, you are just adorable. Fine. One hint. He has the most cutest smile ever~!”
“Kazu!” I whined. “That's your own opinion! I don't know who you think has the cutest smile!” She just laughed at me as I gave her a look, “I'll give you something to laugh at...” I began tickling her sides as she laughed harder, “Ah! No... haha... Hikaru! Stop! Haha... please!” I laughed at her and stopped as she sighed in relief.
“Alright... I'll give you another hint...” she said as she thought. “Hmm... I like a guy... who can be romantic and original.” I gave her a look again, “We can all be romantic and original... can't you give me a hint that will narrow it down?” She giggled, “I can't think of anything... remind me what I've told you.”
“Okay... you don't like super flirtatious guys...you like energetic types... he needs to be at least taller than you, and you like funny guys rather than cool.” I said remember everything. I thought, “You said it's not Yamada... and Yabu's very flirtatious... and he has a girlfriend so they're out. Chinen, Ryutaro, and Daiki are shorter than you and Keito and Yuya are more cool than funny... So that leaves Kei or Yuto.” She laughed at me as I gave her a look, “What?!”
“He can also be a bit oblivious...” she stated cutely as I smiled, “Oblivious, really? Haha... who in JUMP is oblivious...” I began to think as she laughed again.
“Geez, what's so funny?” I asked as she tried to stop, “Haha, you would be laughing too if you knew who he was... anyways, I gotta go early today. I have an exam on Monday and I really need to study.”
“Alright...” I said as I lit up, “Wait~! He's not very flirtatious...energetic, funny, taller than you... and oblivious.” She turned to me with a large smile on her face as I smiled happily, “Could it be... It's Kei~!” Her smile slowly vanished as she sighed, “I'll see you later Hikaru.”
“Wait, was I right?” I questioned as she sighed again, “Why don't you think it over one more time.” She left as I pouted, suddenly feeling bored.

Looking back at that day now... I laugh at myself. But that's probably what kept her coming back to me... we had a reason to continue seeing each other... eventually becoming close friends... and then... something more that that...
“No way~! This guy?!” Kazu laughed as she and Yuna hung out with Yabu, Yamada, Sara, and me. We were all having lunch at a restaurant as Sara nodded, “Yea! At every party he went to, he would be in the corner sulking.” Yes... she and her sister eventually found out about my dilemma with Reina...
“Hard to imagine... he's always so loud and energetic!” she giggled as I smiled at her.
“It's no joke...” Yamada told her. “An entire month and he was still glued to him bed!” Yabu nodded, “I don't see why though, he shouldn't have gotten all sad because of her. She's not worth it. She doesn't know what she's missing.” Yuna nodded as Kazu said, “ I totally agree Hika. Don't grieve over a girl like her. It's her loss. Losing a great guy like you...”
“Yea... I'm done with her. I've moved on.” I smiled. I really had moved on. I really loved Reina, truly I did. But after she broke my heart... I couldn't just hope she would come back. I had to move on... and I had someone very special help me with that...
“That's great to hear.” Yuna smiled at him. Yamada soon said, “Oh, Yuna, we're late for the movie!” The two quickly left as Sara then stood up, “Kota, we should be heading off too.”
“Alright then...” he stood up, paying for the meal. “Kazu, do me a favor and watch over this dork?” He pointed at me as she giggled, “I'll do my best.”
“Gee, thanks a lot Kota.” I rolled my eyes. “Some best friend you are.” He gave me a playful push, “You know it!” They left as I turned to Kazu, “So.. since everyone's going out on a date... why don't we?”
“Are you asking me out?” she raised an eyebrow at me. I nodded, “I guess so. Want to?”
“Well... alright.” she smiled as we got up and left.

And since that day... my happiness continued to increase... My days were always brighter, I would always have a smile on my face, The world just seemed more wonderful. I don't know how I would be if that day never came... the day we met. I would probably still be in depression over Reina.
“So what's the occasion?” Kazu smiled to me as we sat down in a restaurant. I smiled back, “Does there need to be?” she giggled, “I guess not.” After ordering our meals, I told her, “I'm really glad you came out here with me tonight.”
“I am too.” she answered. “It's been like two weeks since I've seen you. So its nice that you have a break from work to hang out with me.” Our concerts have started again so we really haven't had time.
“Yea, it feels weird not seeing you as often as I used to.” I stated. “Haha, my day isn't as fun either...” She giggled, “Aw, you're so sweet Hikaru~!” I smiled back. The truth is... there was a reason I invited her to dinner... I was just too nervous to say it...
“Hmmm....” Kazu thought as she looked at the desert menu after we ate. I just stared at her happily. Her beautiful, long black hair was let down nicely and cutely curled at the end, her attractive brown eyes gleamed under the chandelier's light, and as she smiled, her sparkling smile brightened the room even more.
“Let me guess... a bowl of watermelons.” I said as I saw her face light up.
“Haha, you know me well...” she giggled as I ordered some. As soon we finished, I drove her home since it was getting pretty late. I walked her to her door as she smiled, “Thanks for tonight... it was lots of fun!” I nodded, “Anytime.”
“Well... I guess I'll see you around. Night..” she said as she opened her front door and turned to go, but I quickly grasped her hand, “Kazu...” She was a bit surprise by my sudden action, but listened. Nervousness took over my mind and my body. I shook a bit and stuttered, “T-There's.... there's something I want to tell you...”
“What is it?” she smiled making my heart beat even faster. I became even more nervous as I gulped, “Well... I... um, I, Uh--” We soon heard a call from inside.
“Kazu, are you back?” her sister called.
“Yea, just give me a minute...” she yelled into the house. “I'm sorry Hikaru, I gotta go. Can it wait--” I panicked and quickly said, “Kazu I really like you! Please be my girlfriend!” A surprised look came on her face as bite my lip, trying to prepare myself for whatever answer she would give me.
“Kazuko! Come inside and close that door! You're letting all that cold air in!” I heard her parents call. She sighed, “Okay, I will!” She looked back at me, “Can you meet me tomorrow afternoon? At park nearby here... I'll give you my answer then.” I nodded as she smiled again, “Night.”
“Good Night Kazu...” I said as she went into her house, closing the door and I headed home.

I had finally confessed. I finally confessed to her, but... one thing worries me. What will her answer be? Will I end up getting a new girlfriend.... or another broken heart?
That next day afternoon, I nervously waited at the park. I looked around every couple seconds, seeing if she was coming near. Still no sign of her... I continued to pace back and forth, hoping the uneasy feeling would go away, when I heard a familiar laugh. My heart exhilarated as I turned to her, “Kazu!”
“That excited to see me?” she smiled at me as I nodded, “So... do you have an answer for me?” I prepared myself for her answer as she thought and stated, “Let me ask you something first. We haven't talked about it for a while... but... did you ever find out who my bias was?” I pouted, remembering, “No... but do you really like him that much? I thought we've really bonded since we met.”
“We have.” she smiled. “And yes, I really, really like my bias.” My heart sank as she saw the sad look on my face. She told me, “Come on, Hika~ Don't be sad!” I groaned, “Fine... can you tell me who your bias is then?”
“Hmmm... why? You can't just continue guessing?” she wondered as I stated, “Because I want to punch him.” She just laughed at me as I said, “Seriously, if I can't be sad then maybe punching this guy might make me feel better.”
“Okay, just guess the names, I'll tell you if you say his name.” I sighed, “Fine.... Kota?”
“Nope.”
“Yuto?”
“No.”
“Kei?”
“Not him.”
“Ryosuke?”
“He's my sister's bias, not mine.”
“Ryutaro?”
“Too young for me.”
“Daiki?”
“Nope.”
“Yuri?”
“Not my type.”
“Keito?”
“Ummm... no.”
“Yuya?”
“Nope~!”
“Kazu!” I shouted at her. “You said you would tell me!” She answered, “I said I would tell you if you said his name.” I pouted, “I already mentioned everyone...” She gave me a small laugh, “Really, I only counted nine members... you're missing someone.” I thought, “9? Hmm...” Then I lit up as she giggled again.
“So you finally figured it out?” she stated as I happily smiled, “I'm your bias?!” She cheered, “Yup~! You got it right!” I hugged her in excitement as I then asked again, “So... you'll be my girlfriend?”
“Of course!” she stated. I smiled happily at her as we went off to have some fun together.

That day she became my girlfriend, it was only the start of our fun. That was only the beginning. I'm always looking back on these memories, my favorite memories... even my break up with Reina. Both bad things, and good things in life... they happen for a reason. Because she broke up with me... it eventually lead me to meeting the right girl. The one girl who was actually for me. Ishikawa Kazuko. The girl who makes my life complete.
